Sweet 16's

My parents told me I need to start planning my sweet sixteen and I'm not really sure what I want to do. I'd love to go big and invite like 100 people and get the big dress but I'm also fine with a small party of like 20 of my closest friends.
So the point of this thread is...
What did you do for your sweet sixteen?
Or what would you like to do?
Or is there a sweet sixteen that you went to that you thought was really cool?
I'm just trying to get some ideas so I can start planning.

I never had a sweet sixteen. I am not into that AT ALL. I think birthday parties and parties in general are overrated and boring. I'd rather that money be put towards a vacation. Spending it all on a birthday party seems pointless to me. I honestly couldn't think of even 20 people I would want to invite to a party friends-wise. If I had family AND friends then maybe but not just 20 friends. No way could I have 100. I think MTV's show gives people stupid expectations.

I had a big party at my country club. I invited like 70 people and had a bunch of food (which really ran up the bill so if you can cut anywhere, cut there!). It was really fun. Everyone had a great time!

My friends threw me a party. It was like 10-15 of us at my friend's house. Besides my 7th birthday, it was the only party I've had for my birthday.

I don't plan to do anything large.
Nothing with friends, pretty much the same as any other year.
My mom says she is going to try to plan a trip to WDW for me though.

My sixteenth brithday? Hmm. I think it rained that day. But we did go and sign me up for orchestra, easily one of the best things that's ever happened to me. (It was more or less a coincidence it happend on my birthday, though.) I think we went to Glden Crral, too.

T be honest, I was a little disappointed at not doing anything more special, but then, I was told I was getting an awesome present so it was okay. *shrugs*

I really do not see the point of having a sweet sixteen because nothing happens its not like my parents are gonna buy me a car when i dont even have my permit so i just had family. I want to have a sweet 21 that where i bring a couple friends and family and have a party around the world!

Haven't been to one.
And I don't plan on anything.
I'll just get together with my friends,do something fun,and go back to my house for pizza and cake.
Just like every other year.
I'd rather the money for a car,insurance,and gas.

Haha my Sweet 16 was so lame. My family didn't even speak to me. But I've been to one of those MTV ones and those big extravagant parties are really stupid imho.

my brother had his 2 weeks ago personally IMO it sucked it was at the neighborhood club house and it was too cold to go golfing so we just were there eating pizza and drinking pop he had like 50 friends there and yeah they played video games then we walked back to our house and 16 of his closest friends stayed the night

I didn't do anything big. All my closest friends and I went cosmic bowling (they turn off the lights and put on strobe lights and music). Then we all went out for Chinese food, went back to my house and slept over. It was fun just being with friends. I think it's kinda silly to have some huge party just for being 16. It's not even that special. I'd rather have a big graduation party or something.

I haven't had mine yet, but when I do, I am getting my permit and I think I just want a small little get together with me and a few friends. Maybe the movies. I am not sure yet.

I took my best friend to Disney. We also went on the cruise. it was a lot of fun, we were allowed to go around the parks and on the boat by ourselves the only time we were with my mom was when we were at NASUA(sp?) and at night. and on my actual birthday I wore a tiara and everyone called me princess and wished me a happy birthday.

I think i went to dinner with 3 close friends? I honestly don't even remember. I went to a bunch of big hall parties before my birthday and decided it just wasnt what i wanted. Most of my friends didn't really get to enjoy their huge parties, my best friend ended up getting caught in some drama at her party and LEAVING. That totally turned off doing a big thing, so i just went for dinner.

I didn't have one. I had a Quince (sweet 15) its like the same thing but a year earlier. I had it at a hall with about 80 people including family and we danced...thats about it. I had a theme which was Hollywood and we had gold and black and silver everywhere. It was awesome i'll never forget it. If you need any help i can try and help you

For my 16th I'm inviting 8 people and we're going to ride all the coaster's on the Strip, eat at the Stratosphere and drive down in a party bus to the coaster in Primm.

I didn't have a party. I didn't even have any friends over. My parents took me to my favorite local restaurant and I got my ipod that I'd begged for.

I'm not really a big party person, I'd rather just stay home. I've only been invited to one of my friend's sweet sixteens. Thats kind of sad. xD
