November 26, 2010 - Day 5 - The Louvre - Not our best day.
Overslept…I don’t know how. I was too tired to get up and set my i-touch and I guess the girls didn’t hear the wake up call or maybe we didn’t set it right but we didn’t get up until 10:30!!!! I planned on being at Notre Dame right now!!
Me and Jenn ran down to breakfast. I had brought my pack with me and got a plate FULL of croissants that I dumped into a zip lock along with butter and Nutella and put it in the pack. I got one plate and put juice and hot cocoa on it. I got a bowl of fruit salad. I put yogurt in the pack too. Went back to the room and fed Jess lol. Not supposed to take food out of the room but we were pressed for time.
Gave up on Notre Dame. Decided to let the girls shop a little but had no plan and ended up in a designer store….not good. Beautiful window decorations though.
Jess bought a shirt and lotion from an H&M and then leg warmers from a street vendor. Needed a place for lunch and found one while we were walking in the direction of the Louvre. Pizza Pino….yes pizza …. again arg. It was very good though!! Soda here cost 4.10 euros each (about $5.50) and the whole bill came to 43 euros (about $57).
We saw a Monoprix which is sort of like a Wal-Mart but tiny. Bought cheese and chocolate to bring home. Started walking towards the Louvre when it started to snow but I saw a bus that was going in our direction so jumped on!
Brought us right there. Free for students again!! Yeah!!
Saw the main sites and decided to leave…..grumpiness was setting in and we wanted to have fun after all. Maybe one day I will go back and spend a whole day in the Louvre. I would like to rent the headsets and/or take a guided tour. Asked for directions to the train……direct one this time so no transferring which is good.
Walked through the village….halfway through told the girls to go to the room without me… I needed some alone time you see. Shopped for an hour and a half then went back to the room. Girls wanted to go on the computer so I bought another 3 hours for us to use….as long as they left me enough time to check into the airline and I also wanted to make a reservation for us on the same shuttle we used to get us home. We were hungry so while I was figuring the computer stuff out (in the Redwood Lounge….with TWO cosmos) they ran back to the village to get us McDonalds….yes there is McDonalds in the Disney Village in France lol!! If they weren’t so nasty and rude we should have eaten there more as it was so much less expensive than any where else.
Sadly I lost an earring today that has sentimental value……
