Sweet 16 celebrated with Mickey & Pals-9 days of TiW dining: Completed 6/14

 Just joining in. I am loving your reviews. And Happy Belated Bday to your daughter. 16 is a great age isn't it. Well...ah.... for girls. ;)

We own SSR, but have never tried the Turf Club. good to hear your review. My "adult" children love the CS at SSR. I think it is Artist something or other. The & their friends loved it. Personally I haven't eaten there since it first opened, so I will not comment.

Can't wait to read more. Unfortunately, I didn't make ressies for any of the restaurants you've reviewed so far, but like you we have our favs.

We have a funny story about our experience at 50's PT. We took my Dad & his girlfriend about 15 years ago. We had no idea that it was a staff themed restaurant. DH & I caught on pretty quickly, but my Dad is very very deaf, and he just thought they were soooooo rude. I giggle every time I think of it.

I am loving your reviews. It is so nice to see a mom and daughter who love Disney as much as we do! After seeing your review of Turf Club, don't need to visit. Can't wait for the rest of the reviews!:goodvibes

Eeew, that chicken looks gross! I think you are keeping a very upbeat attitude about it. I think I might have made a scene! ;)

Wow, I dont know what to say about that Turf Club meal except I am so glad that I have no plans to ever eat there. What a sad excuse for a meal.

Just got caught up on your wonderful reviews!

You're daughter is just lovely and what wonderful memories the two of you are making. I can't wait until my daughter is old enough for the a trip for just the two of us to Disney.

Looking forward to reading more. :goodvibes

I don't know why but I kind of guessed from the start that you had not had a good experience at the Turf Club. I'll be honest, I've yet to see a good review. And most people I know hate the fact that SSR really doesn't have a good bar/lounge area that adults can enjoy.

Your chicken meal really didn't look appetising to me. Hope WCC was much better for you.

You have wonderful intuition! However, WCC was very good. :lovestruc

Thanks for reading. Yes, 16 is a great age. Em kept reminding me that Aurora found her prince at 16 or so she was on the look out! :rotfl2:

I'm giggling at your 50's PT story as well! :rotfl2: I can totally see where if someone didn't know what a CM was actually saying that they were rude. Like throwing straws on the table and not properly greeting the guests.

Thanks disneymama! These mother-daughter trips really are a special time. I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Eeew, that chicken looks gross! I think you are keeping a very upbeat attitude about it. I think I might have made a scene! ;)

Yep.. not that tasty. I have to say that the prime rib actually looked good so it may be the hidden gem at this restaurant. :confused3

I'm starting to feel guilty for my honest review. Typically, as time passes I start to consider going back but not this place. :sad2: In this case, the photos of the food make it look better than it tasted.

Awwww... I wish you many wonderful mother-daughter trips in the future! :lovestruc Thank you for reading.

Ok, I'll skip the preamble about how we couldn't find the boat dock to get to WL from the CR (yeah, I know it is right at the end of the pier but I thought I was smarter than the sign!)

After a short boat ride to WL - (BTW, we LOVE the look/feel of WL it is so much like Disney's Grand Californian.) we didn't get lost getting to the WCC!

We were seated almost immediately in a nearly deserted restaurant. Our first impression was Sheesh! There sure aren’t a lot of people up and hungry at this hour. However, my next thought was was, please, please don’t let [insert name of waitress here with first initial of B] be our server – she was yelling across the restaurant to a family seated next to our table that the kid had to eat his entire breakfast in an annoying way. Not to mention later hollering to a family that was just seated, “hey lady, why do you have so many kids?” (and yes, I know that WCC has servers that deliver antics & shenanigans.) Thankfully, Jeffro walked up to introduce himself as our server. He was laid back and reserved which was actually a relief. I thought we would enjoy some mischief from the staff seeing as how we love 50's PT but somehow what we observed was simply annoying and not entertaining. (I sound like a stick in the mud but I assure you - I am a prankster myself and love a good time! :clown:)

I love the theming for this place - it is somewhat nostalgic since it resembled a western type restaurant from my childhood.

Just because we were not seated in [insert name of waitress here] section, that didn’t mean that she didn’t mess with us. From 5 tables away she asked me what I was taking photos of at the table, I said, "the menu"! She told me I was weird. Ok…. Then she asked where we were from and I said the other OC, in California. She said, “oh, OC Chopper-land.” Uh… no, that’s New York! It was about this time that I wondered if we were going to be able to eat in peace.

There's the grub:

And the "weird" photos:

Jeffro was back to take our orders; we both decided we were going to have the Belgian waffle. I didn’t want breakfast meat so I substituted scrambled eggs with no problem.

Waffles:

Same as above + huevos:

The waffle was very, very good!! (And it wasn't even a Mickey waffle!) It was served with maple butter and candied pecans which made it perfectly sweet and delicious! Em’s pecans were served on the side since she wasn’t such a fan of nuts but that was probably a mistake to even order them because I ended up eating most of them like candy! My eggs were perfectly cooked – in fact the entire meal was perfect.

The bill was $28.86 with $5.59 in TiW savings. This is definitely a place that we will put on our ADR rotation. One caveat, we would request a tame server like Jeffro.

I just realized that this version of the receipt is pre-TiW discount. You get the idea:

Another amazing review! I love WCC, lost count how many times I've been but I have never tried breakfast! Definitely need to do it now! ::yes::

Wow the Turf Club looks terrible, I have never had a desire to eat there and your review just confirmed how I feel.

We have debated the last two trips about making a trip to Turf Club. From your review, it looks like it will not be considered for any future trips!

WCC is one that we have said we would never go back to, but that is more for dinner and the skillet. We did have a decent breakfast there and your waffles look delicious! Maybe next trip ... :scratchin

we will be there for dinner for the first time in a couple of weeks. Hope that server only works breakfast. Thanks for the reviews.

Wow - Turf Club - what can I say - your chicken photo displays amazing colours :lmao:

I've been considering trying Turf Club for a while - thanks for making my decision to skip it much easier. Your photos from there are still great! :)

Subscribing! Just got caught up on all your amazing reviews! YUM!popcorn:: Like others have posted, I hope my little ones will travel to the World with their DisCrazed mother when they are teens! :goodvibes Look forward to reading more!!

Well, thank you! The other food there looked pretty good as well, not just ours. I think it is a great option!

I've taken the hit for you so you don't have to try it! :crazy2:

Enjoy your SWW!!!! :thumbsup2

So the skillit is ick? It really looks good but if it came down to HDD or WCC for good BBQ we may try HDD since the show looks kinda fun.

I hope so too! ;) Remember to ask for ketchup!

Yeah, I said the photo makes it look better than it tastes! But very Christmasy. :rotfl2:

Why thank you! Thanks for reading. You may not even need to stoop to bribery to get your teens to travel with you to WDW! :woohoo: For the record, the only bribe I have offered was to let her stay home from school 1 day so we could extend our vacation...she turned me down - she actually loves school and didn't want to miss any. :confused3

At 1:15pm we went over to Liberty Square area to check in for our 1:30pm ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. After we had checked-in, the hostess noted that it was Em’s birthday and asked if she wanted a cupcake with a birthday song – why sure.

DSC09496.jpg

We had a short wait and were seated in a new area of the restaurant for us – a lower section at a table for two. Caitlyn was our server and perhaps forgot to take her ginko that morning – she had a few lapses. Since we had been here several times before we knew what we wanted. We were not expanding our horizons much since we were sticking with what we knew and loved.

Restaurant photo:
DSC09504.jpg

I ordered the Tri-Corner sandwich (roast beef and swiss with Liberty Tree slaw, horseradish cream sauce and arugula on multi-grain bread) with fries. The menu says that the side selections are soup or salad but I asked for fries and it wasn’t a problem. Em ordered the New England Pot Roast that comes with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables – these are actually the carrots, celery, and onions that are in the pot roast. We also ordered the fried cheese to share.

Our fried cheese appetizer was delivered and uhhh… it was only 5 cheese logs and no more cheese curds like they used to serve. I asked Caitlyn why there were no more curds and she replied that they discontinued serving those that week. She said a lot of people had complained and to write a letter. Ok… not sure I’m that upset but I think we’ll skip these next time since they really aren’t that great. The sauce is likely from a jar.

DSC09505.jpg

Onto what was good with the meal… the entrees! I love the Tri-Corner sandwich. I can never eat but half so if I could find someone to share one of these with me that would be ideal! One observation about the sandwich, it had just a dab of the horseradish cream on it so it was barely noticeable and the slaw was almost non-existent. Seems like Dis is trying to cut some corners by cheapening out on the sandwich toppings… The fries were awesome!

And another view:
DSC09508.jpg

Em loved her pot roast – it was definitely better than the version served at 50’s PT Café. LTT's version had large chunkier pieces of veggies. I had a big bite of meat and it was delicious.

Pot Roast - you really can't see much of the meat in this photo but I can assure you that there was a large chunk of meat under there:
DSC09506.jpg

Even though we didn’t clean our plates, Caitlyn asked if we left some room for ooey gooey toffee cake? Yes, please. I love that dessert. Em ordered the chocolate cake. I asked for the ice-cream on the side since I don’t really eat it. Well… my toffee cake arrive with ice-cream on top, oops! Caitlyn had to go back and re-do it without the ice-cream. Em’s chocolate cake was 3 layers deep and looked good – she was happy.

Ooey gooey deliciousness:

Now what is missing here? Remember we said, sure, bring out a birthday cupcake with a song. Nope, wasn’t done. And yes, there were other’s being serenaded with cupcakes that day. Also, we hadn’t had drink refills since before we were offered dessert… apparently they were rationing drinks as well as cupcakes.

Even though our service was not great, Caitlyn sure did get a good mark for friendliness.

The bill was $57.22 with $11.09 in TiW savings. Even though this place doesn’t thrill us like it did a few years ago, I still look forward to returning.

Up Next: Tokyo Dining

I just added LTT this week for our upcoming trip and I am really glad I did. I love both the sandwich and the pot roast. As for the Ooey Gooey Cake... I admit that I get it with the ice cream and than plop it off to the side. I like just a bit of the melty ice cream on mine!

As for the skillet at WCC, we just did not care for it. Our chicken was dry & the ribs and other meats were just greasy and fatty. Many here love it so maybe we had an off night. But it is something we are not willing to risk again with all of the other yummy WDW food!

Can't wait for your Tokyo Dining review ... we are planning on trying it for the first time in August!

I've always wanted to try the Tri-Corner sandwich but I'm wondering is it hot or cold? It looks delicious.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts about Tokyo Dining.

I am beyond gutted about the Tavern Fried Cheese at LTT

Having drooled over those little fried cheese bites for many years, we were planning to visit for the first time this year, just to have the fried cheese and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

Guess we'll have to make time for a visit to Bob Evans instead since they do a similar appetiser ;)

Glad you enjoyed your meal :thumbsup2
