Sweeney Todd Opinions?

I loved, loved, LOVED Sweeney!! I had seen the revival on Broadway a while back, so I knew everything that was going to happen. But that doesn't mean it still wasn't surprising and awesome. Johnny was great. His voice was impressive, definitely. And he was very into it. Helena and him had amazing chemistry, and she alone was great. My mom liked her the best. Whenever Alan Rickman came on, I was like "SNAPE!" He's just a really cool guy :cool1: And I wanted to laugh when the Borat guy was in a scene, but I knew I shouldn't. Wrong movie. But it was hard not to. Anyway, I hope it's a movie that everyone likes (and I hope Johnny wins the Golden Globe!). The dude behind me said halfway through the movie, "This is really bad." But I have to say, I liked the movie better than the show that I saw. I don't usually say that...but it's true :)

me and my friend kelsey want to see this sooooo *times* infinity badly but my parents are all like "AHHHH NO RATED "R" MOVIES AHHHHH"

god i've seen rated R movies before sheesh i'm not that worried about that blood and gore and all that wonderful stuff but still...

I really want to see it. My sister and I wanted to see it as our Christmas Eve movie but my mom didn't cause it's not really a family movie. So I just bought the soundtrack and listened to it. It seems really cool. I can't wait to see it.

I think my mom might take me to go see it when I feel better (broncitus :(). It looks great, I so love Tim Burton movies.

Haha, I'm going to see it Thursday too!
I couldn't help it, but I bought the CD off of iTunes today.
Have you heard Epiphany? It gave me chills!

Don't want to see it.

A barber...who slits his customers throats...
His girlfriend...bakes them into pies.

Tis the season...

I love Burton films...I love anything Helena Bonham Carter is in...but this one...I'll pass, thank you very much.

She ain't his girlfriend :lmao: My dad said the exact same thing. She is actually in love with him, but he doesn't really feel the same because he has a wife and child. They're more like partners in crime. Right? Well, I'm pretty sure. heh.

I have wanted them to get together although it would ruin his whole vengence plot if he fell in love again. I can't wait to see it tonight! I think that it will be one of the best Johnny Depp movies I have ever seen.

I don't really want to see it.
I have way too many other movies that I want to see. I don't wanna add ANOTHER one to the list.

Yea, it has blood. Big Deal. I don't even see why it would be rated R! It's not that bad! I think anyone could see this. Johnny Depp has a great singing voice, and so does Helena Bohnam Carter. I love Johnny and Tim Burton. They are Hollywood's best for Sweeney Todd. The only thing i hate about Sweeney Todd is Alan Rickman, he doesn't really sing well. I also hate his character, but I guess your supposed to. I LOVE SWEENEY TODD!:rotfl:

I want to see the Steven Sondheim play before I see the movie.

I just went to see it last night and it was amazing! Johnny Depp is such a wonderful actor and he puts his whole self into everything he does. I didn't like the ending very much because it was all a big shock. Not the romantic ending I was hoping for(but I think it is because I wanted Sweeney to turn around and realize his bad ways) but for the film it was brilliant. I am so in love with that movie! The acting was brilliant, Helena Bonham Carter shocked me with how good her singing voice was.

My 13-year old DD had just finished studying this musical in school so we went to see it yesterday and we both thought it was amazing. I cannot stand gory movies, would never sit through a slasher movie, but as others have said, it is almost like fake blood and most of the gore is limited to a few scenes. The majority of the movie is without gore. I thought Johnny Depp was fantastic and the boy who played Toby made my cry his voice was so unbelievably beautiful.

I LOVED IT!!!

The soundtrack is amazing and Epiphany is stuck in my head everywhere I go. The movie was amazing. JD and HBC make a pretty cool pair. I do not believe it deserved an R rating. Good performance by all of the cast but the Beadle scared the crap out of me lol.

I finally saw it.
It was amazing!

Finally, I saw Sweeney Todd.
Loved everything about it.
Except, the blood needed to look less like ketchup and there needed to be more of it.
And I don't see why it's rated R at all.
Lol.

Go see Sweeney Todd. I'm serious. Lol.
Lol

Eww, Judge Turpin xD

It's just indescribe-able.
I've listened to the whole soundtrack 10 times today. I counted xD

Ahaha, it was amazing.

It just wasn't as bloody as I thought it was going to be. The blood looked like freakin' ketchup! lol

And Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are my favorites. Ever. Lol. :D

I'm in an Edward Scissorhands mood.

Johnny Depp can sing sooo good., I love his voice. So much. I'm listening to him right now as I'm typing this. Have you heard the soundtrack yet? You must! :D At first I was kind of skeptical if Johnny Depp could sing, and I approve ::yes:: But, I hope he doesn't make an album or anything...that would be weird xD

I also think they should revive it back onto broadway xD
I'd go see it.
Even if Johnny Depp isn't in it.
It was still a really cool (but slightly predictable) plot

And the guy who played Borat was in it too xD Lol :D
And I thought he was really good.

And Toby was so adorable, and had an amazing voice. The casting was amazing. And Helena Carter or whatever was a really good singer too. Lol. Same with Alan Rickman! Although he wore gold tights the whole time...

Lol, ok...that's enough rambling for now xD
Oh wait... I didn't like Johanna though. And Antony looked like a fish.

Lol,
now I'm done.

I desparately.. want to see it.

ut, I cant handle gore... So, i won't be seeing it...
Although really REALLY really want to.

*sigh*

It's not insanely gorey. The blood looks like ketchup.
It sprays everywhere though xD
And that's about as bad as it gets.

I saw it, I though Helena was genious. I liked the fact that she was portrayed younger in this movie, if you watched the taping of the staged show Mrs. Lovett is a lot older. Which makes it a little creepy that she lusts over Todd.

I thought Toby was outstanding. I normally hate watching child actors, you know the type...they seem to be robots. There is no real emotion in what they are saying...but I beleived Toby. Everything about his character seemed real.

Of course I loved Depp as Todd, and Rickman was genious as Turpin.

I really disliked Wisener as Johanna. While Johanna seems like a small part, it does have some depth. In my opinion Johanna is extremely sheltered, but she is not stupid. Wisnener made her seem very obediant. Shoulnt she be defiant? Johanna is not my favorite character anyways, so I geuss it would be hard for me to praise the actor.

As for the rating...come on this is deffinatly not at R movie. The blood was so fake, cartoon-like. Actually the whole thing (saussage machine, barber chair, ect..) was very cartoony. I liked it. Its not like this movie was meant to scare the life out of us.

All in all I was very pleased with Burton's adaptation of Sweeney Todd.
