MNSSHP vets, will my DD melt in a Lucy Pevencis (Narnia) costume? It's a whole lot of Polyester, I'm afraid! She has her heart set, of course, but I'm worried about the safety of the long robe on rides and the heat. Am I worried about nothing? Thanks! This is our first October visit, so I'm clueless! :sunny:

Well my daughter has worn a Pocahantas costume that had long sleeves and it was 100% polyester and did fine. It was a shorter skirt however. Last year she wore a Snow White costume, full length and did fine. It is pretty pleasant in the evenings in October. If you are worried, I would take a change of clothes for her, either have her wear them under the costume or store in a locker. If the skirt is really long, you might try to shorten it or put a loop of elastic on the hem she can put her hand through. Frankly at my age and weight I could never climb in and out of rides (esp. Space Mtn.) with a long costume on but my daughter at ages 8 and 9 had no problem. And she was having so much fun she wouldn't have felt hot anyway!

Well rats! I was thinking Sweaty Lucy might be a new character I hadn't heard of yet!

Sorry. Back to what you were doing.

We were at WDW October 14-23 last year. I think our MNSSHP was 10/16. We had a pirate costume for DS9 - long sleeve "blouse" with a vest over the top, flannel type pants. He absolutely roasted, and he refused to take the costume off! He had a T-shirt & shorts but he didn't want to change. By 10 PM he was so hot and exhausted we ended up leaving. I must have asked him 40 times to take off the costume, but he wouldn't do it. We wore T-shirts & shorts the entire trip. It really was too hot for that costume, but I never would have guessed that he would insist on wearing it the whole time. Good luck!

We also went last year and there were alot of " sweaties" there it was SO HOT ! :sunny:

Thanks! I guess I'm still off with a sweaty Lucy! When I told my DD I posted this, she told me Lucy was NEVER, EVER, sweaty because she was still cold from all the snow in Narnia. Sounds a lot like MN! No wonder she wants to be Lucy! Jack'sgirl, I can see a potential Stubbern Lucy here, much like your DS: I'm not hot! I'm LUCY!

I think I'll try the other clothes thing, thanks for that suggestion, and maybe there's still time to talk her into Alice in Wonderland.... she's cool! ;)

Cleo - I didn't think about another Sweaty Lucy! I think that's not a Disney movie.... (Pardon me, everyone  )

We went to the NSSHP last year, early October, and it was incredibly hot and INSANELY humid.
Very uncomfortable. And my 'costume' consisted of a pair of shorts and a Patriots T-shirt.
It was crazy. But fun. :thumbsup2
