I am not sure if this is the right wording or not, so please be kind. When we went to WDW in 2002 we were able on rides to parent swap. What I mean is all of us would go in line, the my DH and DS would ride the ride while myself and DD (1) would wait at the loading bay. Then when they came back my husband and I would swap seats, and then he would take the baby so i could ride. My question is do they do this at Disneyland. If anyone could help it would greatly be appreciated.

Yes they do - same system. I think it's referred to as a child swap though.

yes...at dl and dca just ask the cm at the ride gate and you get a swap ticket for that ride that you can use to go up the fastpass line when your so is done.

They have switched to making you go through the fastpass line so on Indiana Jones you will still have to wait 20min to get on . When we were there last year you could just go in the exit but no more too bad:( Still works pretty good and you all don't have to stand in-line with the rest of your party just get the child swap from the CM at the Fastpass enterance.

Yes unfortunately they have changed it so you use the fastpass line, except on Matterhorn, you get right on. Also, it is available on almost any ride that has a height restriction! Have a great time, if you combine the use of this with fastpasses, it works great!

Wait a minute, I'm a little confused now. I thought my party (3 adults, 1 "older" child who can go on most rides, and 2 younger children) would all get in line together until the end, then those not riding would step aside, two of us would ride, then the other two would be nearby to swap with and would get on with little wait. Are you saying that isn't correct, that those not riding don't get in line at all at first, but wait for those riding to bring back baby swap "tickets", then have to wait in the FP line? How will the CM know that we really need to use baby swap if they don't see the toddler & baby?

So, will they not let us all get in line together all the way to the end, then switch off?

the parents with the kids get the swap pass from the CM at the entrance that way they know you need one. The whole group dosn't go through together.

No, not everyone needs to wait in the line...they have made you use the FP line for a couple of years now as we had to do that during the summer, the winter before that and the summer before that (2 summers ago).

Here's the real secret (but don't tell!)...if you have 2 adults and at least 1 bigger kid who CAN ride....do this:
1. Go get your fastpasses for the ride for everyone (including the youngers)
2. Return at FP time
3. Get childswap ticket
4. 1 adult and bigger kid use FP
5. Other adult and bigger kid use other set of FP
6. One adult and bigger kid get on w/child swap

This means bigger kid gets 3 rides in a row! In DCA, there are some natural wait areas for you w/the youngers...at busy times of the year they have CMs doing stuff there w/the kids like coloring pics or origami, otherwise, you have some good open space.
HAVE FUN!
