Hi All

I'm sure this has been done before but what are the main differences between the Swan & Dolphin? What would make you chose one over the other?

In terms of us... we like these because they are 'hotels' to us (i.e. all in one building). We like big beds, we don't like being anywhere too busy.

Are the main differences between these resorts and, say Animal Kingdom Lodge, the fact you can't charge purchases to your room (in the parks) and you pay for parking?

Would appreciate all thoughts & comments please!!!

We've stayed at both. Both are fine and the rooms are almost identical. I would choose the Swan since it is smaller (though still a large hotel) and the walk back to the room is likely to be shorter. The Dolphin has more choices for food / dining but the walk from the Swan is very short.

Hi,

Let's see for the question of why do we choose the Swan over the Dolphin or vice versa I would say it is size. We have stayed at both and we perfer the Swan. It is smaller and just does not feel as overwelming to us. The beds are also out of this world.

We love the AKL and will be there is two weeks for our 8th stay but we usually go with the Swan when we can get it for $200 a night or less including tax and the AKL is going for more than that. The location of the S/D is amazing and if you can get a room at either for around $200 a night or less then go for it and do not look back.

I prefer the Swan because it is smaller and more intimate. The Dolphin does have more shops, food areas, etc. but to me it's all just a walk away.

I also prefer the double queen beds which the Dolphin does not have.

They are both great hotels, it's just a matter of preference.

If you have small children you may prefer the Dolphin since there is easier access to the arcade and food areas.

The Swan is a Westin with "Heavenly Beds" which are doubles and the Dolphin is a Sheraton with "Sweet Sleeper Beds" which are queens. I prefer the Heavenly Bed over a Sweet Sleeper, but I also prefer a bigger bed. The Swan is a smaller resort, but the Dolphin has most of the restaurants, including the quick service restaurant.

The main differences between the Swolphin and Disney resorts is (1) you can't charge to your room, (2) you can's have items sent back to your resort, (3) you are not eligible for the Disney Dining Plan, (4) the beds are more comfortable, (5) bunk beds are not available.

Add the reasonable price for the rooms to the location and the Swolphin really can't be beat!

I thought I read that one of them have full size beds while the other has queen beds? Is that true?

Not sure you thought that you can't have items sent to your room but you can. Anything you purchase at the parks or Downtown will be sent to the gift shop for you to pick up the next day, I do it all the time.

We prefer the Swan for the reasons the others have posted, also the Swan is the lst bus stop. The Dolphin will sleep 5 with a rollaway or air mattress. You can only book 4 at the Swan.
