We were at the Dolphin over Easter and had a terrible experience.
The lady who checked us in was very "unfriendly", there was nothing magical about it at all. On previous rips we have stayed at Beach Club, Polynesian and AKL. All those experiences were much, much better.
I asked about a room upgrade because I am a SPG. She rudely said, yes you can be upgraded to a balcony room for $30 per night. I declined because I heard so many great things on this site about this hotel. Who needs a balcony anyway!!! Boy was I wrong.
Well we get to our room and it was small, the beds terrible and the smell. Well the odor of urine in the room was unbearable. I just wanted to crack open a window or door.
I called down right away and asked to be moved to a different room. We were given another room and I agreed to pay the $30 upcharge for a balcony. There was no way I was going to spend my vacation in a musty room.
The second room had a better odor, but the beds were still terrible. This was the worst hotel sleep I have ever had. I called the front desk at 4 a.m. (because I couldn't sleep) and requested that we move over to the Swan.
I am grateful that we allowed to move over to the Swan. We had a great experience there.
