I've just booked at the Swan but reading all of the posts I'm thinking maybe I should have booked the Dolphin. How far is it to walk to Grotto Pool and Picabu from Swan? We are most likely to prefer eating breakfast grab and go. Someone mentioned bakery on the Boardwalk. How far is that? Are these hotels equadistant to Epcot, Boardwalk, etc.?

This link might give you an idea of the entire Epcot resort area.

The BoardWalk and all the eateries there are a very short walk from Swan or Dolphin, and Swan or Dolphin are pretty close to equidistant from MGM or Epcot, perhaps Epcot's a slightly shorter walk. Dolphin had a food court type thing called Tubbie's, perfect for a quick breakfast, but it's since been refurbished and re-named so I don't know what's up with that anymore. We've stayed at Swan 4 times and Dolphin twice and we're booked at Swan next month. The Grotto Pool is closer to Dolphin than Swan but it's not much of a stroll from either unless you're schlepping a herd of rugrats and all their gear.

We prefer Swan to Dolphin because of it's smaller size and because it seems to get fewer large conventions than Dolphin, but you can't go wrong with either.

Vote for the Swan here!

We love the Swan and prefer this smaller hotel because it is more quiet. To walk to the Dolphin is a short walk across the way as they both face each other. I also need the double queen beds for my two adult boys.

Both hotels also have an open cafe area for breakfast and they have coffee, tea, milk, etc. and also cereal, muffins, bagels and pastries so you can grab those on the go or sit.

The staff is great and service is impeccable:woohoo:

Don't want to hijack, but does anyone know if there's a map of the room numbers for the Swan? I have my room assignment and would like to know how good it is. Thanks!

I don't think there is a map online of their room numbers.

What is your room number and how is it that you already know what it is?

I'm coordinating a meeting for my group. I was doing a final review of the room list and saw they gave me room 529. I had asked for an epcot view, so it seems they already assigned me a room.

Well your definitely on the 5th floor. Does it mention what wing? I had room 730 on the east wing and had an Epcot view. So the numbers are similar but 2 floors down but that is just a guess.

We have only stayed at the Dolphin ( lower rates) but to be honest, some areas of the Dolphin look to be a longer walk to the Grotto pool than from the Swan...I mean, if you are at the far end of the Epcot side...which would be an AWESOME view, you do have a bit of a hike to the elevators and then to the other side of the Dolphin to the pool,....while a room at the Swan near the quiet pool would be a closer walk to the Grotto and to Picabus and the soad shop, Fresh, laundry, etc. You would have to go outside from the Swan, but you have a covered walkway and it really is not a long walk. The values and mods all have an outdoor walk to the food courts for their resorts and the Poly as well. I think if we were ever able to get a Swan room for as low a rate as the Dolphin, we would give it a try...the beds are a bit larger from what I understand, and the rooms are laid out a bit different from the Dolphin...change is good from time to time! At any rate, both the S/D are right there at the Boardwalk...a short wak over the bridge. I just posted walk times to both MGM and Epcot on another thread...18 minutes to MGM and 11 to Epcot...about a 1/2 mile to Epcot and just under a mile to MGM.

Hi Jennifer

We've stayed at both resorts and honestly they are both great.

The Dolphin is a little more convenient as they have the laundry, games room, a few more restaurants and a little closer to the Grotto pool. However really all of this is not far at all from the Swan. You can really consider the S/D to be one resort in my opinion. Everything is so close that it's a mix of 2 resorts put together.

The thing is though the Dolphin is so big that you may get a room on one of the ends that is actually longer to walk to these amenities than the Swan. Again everything is so close I really wouldn't worry about it.

The Swan is a smaller resort and quieter and that appeals to a lot of people.

We're going back next year and we'll probably go back to the Dolphin. Why? It's a toss up but we maybe like the Dolphin a hair better but that's just us.

Don't fret about it, you'll have an awesome time no mater which "wing" you stay in. Also if you haven't done it already go to www.spg.com and become an SPG member. You get points based on your stays at these hotels and other Starwood owned hotels/resorts (Westin, Sheraton, etc). We now have enough points for 5 free nights at the Swan or Dolphin. So they really do add up!

We've stayed at both.

The swan is a little more quiet, and a little less to do. It is a good hotel if you really want to go back to the room and rest. It is much smaller than the Dolphin.

The Dolphin is larger, and has more of a fun feel to it. There is more to do, and a lot more people roaming the halls.

What it comes down to is the rooms are basically the same. Same amazing beds. Same amazing service. I've never really had a complaint about both. They are both great
