Hi there,
I'm meeting my sister at WDW in June, she leaves on a Sat and I'm leaving on Sun. So I've got one night on my own there. I can get CBR for approx $122 including all taxes (king room was only category available) or a Std room at the Swan for approx $192 including taxes and resort fee. Is it worth it - would the Swan be that much nicer? Thing is I've stayed at CBR a couple of times and I really like it but I also like to try different hotels. I could get YC/BC for about $255 (ballpark, don't remember the quote exactly) I'd love to stay there but don't at all know that I want to go that high for one night by myself.
So - what do you think? I hardly know anything about the Swan. Thanks!

Who did you get the price for the Swan? Did you try Dreams Unlimited? If you call the Swan directly you could get an AAA discount if you are a member..

I booked the Swan at Club Level for 8 days in August thru DU at a very good rate.We Chose the Swan because of the closness to the Boardwalk and being able to walk to MGM and Epcot.

We have never stayed at the Swan before but from everything I've read on the boards here it sounds like a very nice place. I guess the Heavenly Beds they have are wonderful.

We never stayed at CBR that looks like a fun place also. I guess it all depends on what you plan on doing by yourself. You could hang around the CBR at the pool or at the Swan your able to come and go at the Boardwalk as you wish. With alot to do and see. If it were me, I would splurge and go to the Swan. Check out some other places and you may get it cheaper.

Good luck, and enjoy your "KID FREE'' vacation.

Hi Mrs. A,
Thanks for the reply. I think I will go to MGM that day as MK will be super crowded on a Saturday in June (not that MGM won't) and I've been to Epcot often - so I'd like to spend a little more time checking out MGM, probably spend some pool time in the afternoon. Prior to this one night I'll be at WL for 5 nights with a package that includes UPH so I'd still have a pass for Saturday.

I have a code rate for CBR - it was the only moderate I've been able to get into. If I could get CSR I would consider trying it although I'm from the southwest so the theme hasn't appealed to me that much.

The rate I have at the Swan is a AAA rate. Don't know why the discount there doesn't seem to be as good as other times, entertainment rate wasn't available. I tried DU and it wasn't any better. I'll keep looking around.

Enjoy your vacation too! I will be happy to have a REAL (kid free) vacation - this is a "Mom needs a break" vacation!

Have a good afternoon :)

For just a one day thing like this I'd go cheap and use the money elsewhere. GO ahead and have a real nice diner or spa treatment. I don't think that's it's really going to be worth the extra money considering your prob going to be rushing out on Sun anyway.

I'd definately pamper myself and stay at the Swan! The rooms are beautiful and the beds are incredible! The pools at the Swan are much nicer,IMO, and we found the atmosphere to be much more relaxing at the Swan. The location can't be beat- a leisurely walk or relaxing boatride to MGM , Epcot, & Boardwalk.

Try Expedia if you really want to go to the Swan, I think their rate may be better depending on which Saturday night you are talking about. Personally I think I would stay in the same resort I had been in (CBR?) rather then change hotels for one night.JMOH

Also be sure and check the internet booking only rates at the www.swandolphin.com website(go to reservations). Just trying to help and guess-timating your date @ June 21 (based on your countdown clock, lol!), the website shows some internet only booking deals at $155 and $179 at the Swan, and $145 resort view at the Dolphin. (Have to add tax).

This website is the official Starwood hotels site, and we used it 2 weeks ago for our Swan stay. Check it out, maybe you can save a few $$, we did!

Try putting in 1 room/ 1 person, no preference, and be sure to check all the pages that come up (bottom right hand side shows "Next", and also change parameters to be able to check out alll the deals! (i.e. go back and specify king, etc. = brings up different deals) Play around in there for awhile!

Be careful and read the descriptions before choosing one- there are a couple of the $145 Dolphin deals, one is limited view, one is Resort view, and same with Swan.

Do you really want to move your luggage for just 1 night? I love the Swan, and have never stayed at either Wilderness Lodge or Caribbean Beach, but I wouldn't want to move if I didn't have to. If you definitely switch resorts, I'd save the money and stay at CBR. Save the Swan/Dolphin for a time when you can get a better rate and enjoy it longer.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the replies. I'll check out those websites and see if I can come up with a better rate for the Swan. I knew I'd get some good advice here on the DIS! I'll be at the WL prior to that Sat night (6/28) and I wanted to try someplace different for the one night. My goal is to try most all the WDW hotels once so I didn't mind moving for a night - I'll have a car so didn't think it'd be that much hassle - it's just me - if I had the whole family with me THEN it'd be a big hassle! As it turned out the only moderate that I could get a ressie at is CBR, where I've already been, so started looking for something else and the next available just going by price was the Swan or Dolphin. Since I've never researched them really I wondered if they were worth the additional $$$.
I may decide based on whether I can get a better rate for the Swan . . . I REALLY wanted to try POR for that night but with the closings I can't get in there. lazarru mentioned using the extra money for a spa treatment and I thought about the Spa at Saratoga Springs - that would be nice - so that's another "pampering" idea! Hmmmm . . .
Thanks again :)

If switching rooms for one night doesn't bother you, then definitely go with the Swan. Treat yourself to a deluxe resort, and to a very convenient location. You can walk to MGM (which is the park you said you'd probably visit), and Epcot is a short walk also. The Boardwalk is nearby, and so many choices of restaurants! Try to get a better rate on one of the sites mentioned, and then go for it!!!

Thanks, it would be nice to walk to MGM and Epcot, and see the Boardwalk at night, haven't done that. I'm going to keep looking for a better rate :)

Have a good weekend everyone.
