Is it possible to see fireworks from your room? If so, What type of room view should I reserve for the best opportunity? ie.. Standard, Lakeview, Resort View or Club level.

There are rooms that face the Boardwalk and the waterway to MGM that I believe you can see the higher fireworks from Illuminations. However, some of the rooms on the lower floors have trees or high shrubs in front of the window or balcony so I believe it would obscure your view. Rooms on higher floors are your best bet.

We stayed in the east wing floor 6 but our view was of the inner Swan entry and walkway to the Dolphin and the lagoon. The rooms on the other side of this wing face Boardwalk but I could see tall trees blocking the lower balconies.

Is there anywhere outside the Swan and Dolphin we can leave our room and walk to(a la the Poly) and see the fireworks? Thanks.

Yes, you can walk to the bridge just past the Swan - the one with the sails on it that leads you to the Boardwalk - you can see the higher fireworks. The music might be muffled but somewhat audible.
