Swan, Dophin, YC/BC

We are planning our next trip and I'd like to stay at one of the Epcot resorts. I am a government employee so the discounts at Swan/Dolphin are great but I'm having a hard time committing the a non-disney resort...so I'm leaning toward YC....can anyone sell me on the Swan and Dolphin? How does it compare to the Disney resorts?? Thanks!

We just got back today from a week at the Dolphin. It was great. So centrally located and in walking distance to the Boardwalk, Epcot, and MGM. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. Try to get a Epcot view, the fireworks are wonderful to watch from your room. I walked through the YC and BC and could not see any reason to pay so much more to stay there. The location is great, the people are great, and the pool was wonderful. Never crowded, and my son loved the slide. Good luck making your choice. It was so hard for me to do, but I am so glad that I chose the Dolphin.

We're staying at the Swan right now. We're in an amazing newly renovated studio room. Disney or non-Disney owned never made a difference before but now I have to admit, this resort has nicer rooms that any of the WDW owned resorts! These rooms are beautiful and the heavenly beds are just such a comfort after such long days! And, since the Dolphin is getting them, well, I couldn't recommend any other hotel anymore but the S/D! How do you make a great resort greater, renovations and heavenly beds!

It would certainly come as no surprise to anyone on these boards who know me that I would tell you--"Swan-Dolphin" definitely!"

I never stay anywhere else, anymore. Why would I? The S/D offer everything that the "Disney" resorts offer, and, in a lot of cases, do it better and for less $$$.

I strongly encourage you to take some time and read some of the threads on this board, or, go to the DIS "ratings" page and read the reviews.

We also qualify for the government discount, and the first time we stayed at the Swan, I was somewhat hesitant! All it took was one stay to turn me into a Swan and Dolphin Resort lover!

You can't beat the value! You'll find the same great castmember customer service in a great location. Some of the views from the S/D resorts are the best on property.

We prefer the Dolphin over the Swan because it suits our family better, with Tubbi's Buffeteria, the Dolphin Fountain, laundry room, arcade, etc. The Dolphin's lobby is a lot more festive, the Swan is more understated.

But I will say that I prefer the bathroom set-up at the Swan better!

Give it a try and see for yourself!

We just stayed at the Swan for the first time, and we really enjoyed it. The only drawback is that you can't charge to your room key (except for at the Swan and Dolphin).
