The balcony rooms at the Swan are best. AS others have said, part of Illuminations is the globe and flame burst - so there's segments you can't see. Also a few low fireworks that you'll only see the tops. Your best bet is to request a high floor.
Pretty sure onlythe Swan has balconies on that side.
not all rooms at the Swan - obviously - will face towards Epcot. Not trying to be snarky, but if pp didn't have a room onthe end he would not have been able to see them, which is likely as ther are more rooms tha don't face the proper direction than do face that way.
You can see part of illuminaions from the Boardwalk area. Probably the best place to stand is near Atlantic Dance/Jellyrolls. Last time we were there, a wedding couple had their photographer get a sot of them with fireowkrs inthe background. Everyone else had their view obscured, but it was fun to see them have their moment.
Still the best place to see the show is inthe park - but there are LOTS of other reasons why the Swan is a great place to stay - esp if you can get it at a discount rate! I haven't stayed there ina few years, but we have stayed there many times. The pools, for one, are very nice. WE also enjoyed the dinign and beingableto hop into Epcot for dinner!
