My Family and I are headed to WDW in July for an event. Because the event is being held at the Swan and Dolphin, we were given no choice about where we stay (if we don't stay at the Swan & Dolphin, we have to pay $100 per person per day to attend the event!!). Neither of these hotels would have been my first choice - can anyone set my mind at ease a bit about staying there (I know I shouldn't whine, they are lovely, just not my style). Thanks for any help!

well have not stayed there yet - but they do have their fans.

swan has queen beds, dolphin has most of the restuarants.

their pool is really nice.

Love the Dolphin and would definitely stay at the Swan too. It is relaxing and close to two parks, and is a deluxe resort for less than a moderate price.

There are people that love these resorts and I would stay there if I could ever find a good deal. They have a lovely pool area, all of the benefits of onsite and the location is super. I have a feeling that you'll enjoy your stay.

Are you at the Swan or Dolphin? I've been shooting for the Swan for years.

I stayed at the Swan about 9 years ago.. it was very nice. It didn't have any Disney touches but was clean, comfy and would stay there again if I had a good deal on it. Their pool is very nice.

It is a nice resort & I would not worry about it at all.... :thumbsup2

Nothing better than a Heavenly Bed at the Swan/Dolphin!!!! :goodvibes

The location is wonderful! We love being able to walk to Epcot and the swalphin is half the cost of the Disney resorts near by. To me, the biggest downside is the pool closes at 9pm.

Stayed there in 2008 with DH for 3 nights. It was so nice. The location can't be beat for the price and the Heavenly beds are....well, heavenly. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and we were even able to score an upgraded room with a theme park view (at no cost) just by casually asking. It was great to be able to walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk. The only reason we haven't stayed there with the kids yet is the lack of availability of the DDP.

We have stayed at the Dolphin a few times. We really liked the variety of restaurants and swimming pools. The location cannot be beat! There is a boat to take you to Epcot or Hollywood Studios--or you can even walk to them. While there is not really Disney theming, they do have a gift shop with a variety of Disney merchandise. We often look to the Swan or Dolphin for a good deal on rooms when Disney prices get a bit too high.

We stayed at the Dolphin because the conference was being held there. Brought the kiddies and a friend of mine. It was a great hotel! The pools and pool area were great fun for all of us. The poolside restaurant was child friendly, clean and modern. The busses to the parks were super easy and the kiddies liked the boats even more than the parks (well, not quite). Plenty of places to eat on property and the staff was so accommodating. I didn't even mind doing some laundry while there :laundy:
I would go back in a heart beat, if we could convince the conference organizers to hold it there :lmao:

Just curious as to where you usually stay (what resort family) if the Swan/Dolphin aren't your style.

We prefer the Swan/Dolphin, having stayed there three times already and about to do our July trip. My DD, 19 prefers them over the WDW hotels. We love the size of the rooms, the location...easy to get to EPCOT and DHS...the pool is wonderful....plenty of restaurants. Great customer service, spa is nice...bus service on par with other hotels. I think you will have a great time.

We have stayed at both the Swan & Dolphin, we also got married there a few years ago. The location is fantastic there are lots of restaurants in the 2 hotels and also on the Boardwalk just over the bridge. The pool area is also great :)

Congrats minnieeaves for getting married there a few years ago! I am getting married there on September 16th!

I stayed at the Dolphin for the first time in March for a business conference. It has a nice oceany smell in the lobby, a great big water fountain, Bluezoo, walking distance to Boardwalk area and Epcot, very quick boat ride to HS, easy bus transportation to the parks (like the other Disney hotels), package deliver, extra magic hours for the parks, a spa, and other nice hotel amenities.

I won't lie to you and say I prefer it over Disney hotels because I would rather stay at a Disney hotel BUT for the price for a conference (and it sounds like that is a big reason you are doing this) it is certainly worth it.
