A while back I read a lot of negative comments about this resort. Have they renovated the rooms lately and if so which ones and are you able to ask for one of these rooms. If you have any suggestions on which is the better resort to stay in (I have a 1 and 8 year old) let me know.

I believe they are staring the rennovation now for the heavenly beds? Dolphin or swan first not sure?

What type of negative comments have you heard about S/D? The reason I ask is because I swore I'd never stay at S/D because of things I heard. Every time we'd pass it, we'd say, we're never staying there - "It's not Disney" "It doesn't have the Magic" "It's too corporate".

In May 2000 we were staying off-site and it was a nightmare. To save the trip, we decided to get a Disney resort for our last night to save the trip. It was Memorial Day weekend and Disney was completely booked. We reluctantly called S/D and they offered us a room for $129. We figured it couldn't be any worse, so off we went. The Dolphin was amazing and we've been hooked ever since. Everything about it from the location, to the decor, to the service to the pool, etc. We also noticed that we saw more conventions at Cont. and tons of weddings at GF.

Moral of the story is "Don't knock it until you try it". Now we stay in a top-notch resort for less than a moderate.

I just remember reading several comments about mildew and smells. Although recently I saw several positive comments.

I haven't noticed any comments about mildew and smells. I have heard people say that about Polynesian, but I love that smell, it's more of a tropical rainforsest smell. As far as the Dolphin, I never noticed anything.
