Swan/Dolphin Question

I was on the Swan/Dolphin website trying to price out what it would cost if we stayed there. (Hate that I missed the $119)
I was putting the nurses discount promotion code in the box, but it would not recognize it.
Anyone had success with doing this or do you have to call with this discount. It did say to "mention the code when calling for reservations"

I've never requested a quote online at the Dolphin, however, I have called and asked for a teacher discount. They were very nice about it and quoted it very quickly. They just say that you need to bring proof of your "employment" with you - but they didn't ask when we checked in last year!

I've received the Teacher's Discount for S/D from 3 different sources over the years, Dreams Unlimited, calling Swan or Dolphin direct and by joining Starwood, it's free and you earn points towards free stays.

Put it in as the "government employee" which is the same rate as the nursing discount. We stayed there once on the nursing discount and it was really a huge savings. You might also try calling the Swan or Dolphin directly because sometimes they will quote you a better price than the website! Good luck, from one nurse to another ;)

Do you know if you have to be actively working as a nurse to get the discount? I have an active license but am not currently employed.

Thanks.

You can just show them your license and that will be sufficient.:)

I have the nursing discount for our stay 12/18-1/1 and made the ressie over the phone at a much better rate than I found on the web. I asked if I should bring my license and was told no I needed to bring a paystub. :confused3

My first stay at the Dolphin, rates are terrific and I'm a happy camper! :woohoo:

Hmmmm....we stayed at the Swan in May 2007 and had three rooms using the nursing discount. I brought my license but I think a pay stub would have been fine too. The other poster isn't currently working as a nurse so her license will be fine I am sure. It probably all depends on who you pose the question to. As long as you have something on you to prove that you are a nurse...it will work.

Hope you enjoy the Dolphin. We enjoyed our stay at the Swan. We love the Epcot Resort area and have now fallen in love with the Beach Club. We stayed there this past May for 10 days. If only I could pursuade my husband to purchase into DVC. I am working on him!

Hope your trip to Dolphin and WDW is Magical! :goodvibes

I think you are right in that it depends who you're asking! Seems that is the case with many disney related questions! :rotfl:

Thank you! We are so excited about staying at the Dolphin and especially being in this location next to my favorite park! We had ressies at the CBR, but when this great discount came out from my nursing organization, we jumped on it like a frog on a junebug! Saving close to $1k made the decision easy! :lmao:

I'm with you, I've been working on my dh for years trying to convince him of the merits of dvc, with the great resale prices, what's not to like... right? :rolleyes1

Wonder what's going on the week of Nov 11. Dolphin is showing sold out and I can't get any rates under $300 at the Swan on the SPG (Starwood) website, and it says no promo rates or AAA available.

FYI...the Dolphin has a great "last minute" rate (although it is available through Oct 9th currently) of $109/nt for either a king or double-double room - its called the "starpick" rate.

I had booked a few days in Sept. under a Florida resident rate of $159/nt and was able to cancel that ressie and get this rate instead...that savings will help offset those resort and parking fees! :)

You can see a calendar with the dates that have this "starpick" rate still available through the Starwood site starpicks.com, and according to their terms it can be used for stays from 1 to 14 days, HOWEVER (and this is a big however), it is a NON-refundable rate...so be sure about your dates before you book!!!

ETA: Sorry originally left out an "s" on the website, it is starpicks.com

Hi,
Right now the best rate I'm able to find at the Dolphin (limited view) is $219 for my visit the first weekend of December. This is "value" season by Disney's calendar...do you think the rate is likely to drop lower than this? Any advice would be appreciated.

FWIW I'll be celebrating my birthday and taking advantage of 1 day free!
