Are they charging for parking yet? If so how do you park and pay if you are just going to one of the restaurants? Is there an attendant?

Agh! I hadn't heard they were going to do this. Where did you get this info? That sucks.

We were there from Feb 19 - 26 and were told it would be starting on March 1. They were insatlling the gates while we were there. We were told $7 to park for the day.

Guests have to pay it too? Are they going to do this at Disney resorts too?

The current word is that this is S/D only.

Anyone there this weekend?

If we check in on a Friday and check out on a Saturday, will we have to pay for 1 or 2 days of parking? It is one night hotel stay. So will it be $7 or $14?

Hi:

At the swan/dolphin they are charging the resort fee of $10.00 that is not waved anymore and then a parking fee to start in the spring of $7.00. That is going to put the nightly rate up alot.

I was looking at that resort for part of a split stay but I may forget it now.

Parking is generally for a 24-hour period, so you'd pay for 1 day.

I just got off the phone with the Swan front desk in regard to new parking fees and I'm livid. She told me that the fee is $7.00 for daytime and another $7.00 for overnight. So if you spend the night you are billed $14.00 plus tax per car. If you have more then 1 vehicle, as we will, you pay for each car. This is in addition to the daily $10.00 resort fee. I kept saying, "Are you sure?" over and over as I couldn't believe they'd made this huge leap in fees. This is in effect now. I definately plan on lodging a complaint with someone, but doubt it'll get me anywhere. Don't you think this is excessive? Fourteen dollars a day is more like valet fees. Gee, I wonder what valet is up to? Perhaps $50.00 per day,per night, per minute, per car,per room, per person!!!!!!!!

This is ridiculous. We were planning on staying there in October but it's out of the question now. Thanks for checking into this.

This is a terrible development BUT they have very limited parking and with the class of the hotel most guests will graciously accept this development.

The S/D has been the Disney step child for most of these years because Disney-folk realized they could get deluxe quality a bargain rates with deluxe quality aqmenities, surroundings and location. I think Starwood has figured this out.

Certainly a complaint, especially from Starwood members, would be a logical thing to do but most likely the bean counters and effeciency people have already made their evaluations.

As for me, there will be no more S/D...Bu-bye.

I think she was probably confused. Call back. Generally it is $7 a night on your hotle bill. I can't imagine they would do two charges. They do have a valet fee and it was something like $14 so if this is true just valet it.

Just wondering where you are going to stay? I find that the price of the S/D including the "fees" is still less then a parking lot view at any of the other Epcot resorts.

I suppose it won't be at an Epcot Resort. There are so many other choices. I think it's great that tourism is booming but there are times when you simply shoot yourself in the foot. I've always felt that rather than informing guests that there is an additional 10.00 resort and now an additional parking fee just raise the rates to absorb the fees.

Does any one know if it is $7 a night or $14? $14 is crazy - especially for Orlando.

We got back yesterday (Monday) and they were not charging yet. As stated above, there were gates up and I saw someone testing them so I'd guess they are going to pull the trigger soon.

Given the incredible nickle and diming that goes on in Florida aimed at tourists I don't think this will change our mind about staying there in the future, especially if we use Starwood points.

When we were there two weeks ago, We valet parked for one night, the charge is $14 per day. Then they kept charging us for valet parking every day(we checked our bill on the TV) so DH would call to have them correct this every day. One time the person he talked to said "Well, starting March 1 you will have to pay $7 for the day and $7 for the night to self park". We didn't think that this was correct as it is the same as valet parking. But it now appears that this is what they are still saying. If the self park fee is going to be the same as valet parking, you might as well valet park and have the door to door service. :confused3

Just wondering, where exactly can you send a complaint to the Swan/Dolphin regarding this new parking fee. $14 per day (yes overnight) for a hotel guest to self park seems outragious especially when the surrounding Disney hotels don't charge at all.
