Swan/Dolphin or YC/BW/BC?

We will be doing a Disney Vow Renwal in September (staying at BWV) My dad will be joining us, for his first trip to WDW in 20 years! All our family and friends will be staying in the EPCOT resort area and he told me to chose any resort for him. I want this to be very special, so I was thinking of the YC until I saw the photos of the rooms on Deb's site. Maybe the photos don't do the rooms justice but they kind of looked cheap to me. Maybe it was the white walls, they looked like someone painted over paneling. The decor didn't scream deluxe for some reason. We have stayed at the Swan and the rooms there are just so nice. Also the staff bends over backwards to please you. Part of me is also wanting him to experience the magic in a Disney Resort. We have never stayed in BC/BW or YC, so I don't have any personal experience to draw upon. Could any EPCOT resort veterans give me some ideas or suggestions?

TIA

The Swan has very nice rooms, and it is right next door to the Boardwalk. Since you are staying at the BW, why not have your dad stay there? You could even rent him a villa studio on the DVC board. I think in September, the rate will be pretty low.

We have stayed at the BW, BC, Dolphin, and, my best friend has stayed at the YC. She definitely liked the BC better than the YC. As for me, I love the BC for its proximity to Epcot and Stormalong Bay! We loved the BW, but it was a farther walk for us due to location of our room. But, the beds at the Dolphin were "heavenly" and we love the restaurants there! Try Fresh for breakfast no matter where you stay! Have him (or you) join the Starwood Guest program and they may even upgrade him!

Maybe its because we stayed at the Swan, which is very nice, no doubt about it, when we went for a meeting, but it screams "convention" to me. I didn't think that the rooms were any nicer than those at the Yacht or Beach Club and I thought that they were a tad smaller.

BW hands down. I'll be going in Oct., 8 of us in all. So much more to do in the evening at the BW, that's if you're thinking of Dad and not the little ones.

Just returned from my first stay at the Swan. Normally we stay at BWV or BC, but do to last minute planning, there wasn't any availability. The Swan was nice, but I would choose BC or BW before the Swan.

YC fan here! Granted, the decor isn't as "busy" at the YC as some of the other resorts, but it is so beautiful. The lobby has so much polished woodwork, and the rooms have lovely painted beadboard - similar to wainscoting. It is very calming and at the same time, it has a great nautical theme - picture Martha's Vineyard. Like I said, it isn't "disney busy", but it IS very nice. We can't wait till we get there this year!

Thanks for all the replies. We will be going over to his house today for Easter and I will show him pictures and give him everyone's suggestions. I really want some sort of input from Dad because resort selection is such a personal decision. This will be the first time since my Mom's death (20 + years ago) that our whole family will be at WDW at the same time. We were in our teens when she died and our most cherished memories were those spent with our family in WDW during Easter Break. Thanks again for the suggestions.

My mother used to go to WDW with my DH and our kids all of the time. I remember one year she suggested that he invited HIS mother. His response? Ruth, I am going on vacation! :) She passed away 9 years ago and there isn't a moment that I don't think of her. One of our last meals with her was at Ariels's at the Beach Club. One of our best vacations was when we stayed at the Yacht Club Concierge rooms. My family, DB's family and of course my mother. We too went on Easter break. Enjoy your memories.

We stayed at the YC in Nov. We thought it was very classy and the rooms were as well. The rooms were VERY clean and Mousekeeping was excellent. My DH and I were treated wonderfully.
We were very impressed with the YC.
We also stayed at AKL and we liked it but the YC was much more "US"
I don't think the rooms looked cheap in the least.
My only issue with it would be the fact that at many times it is hard to get a room there. I know we are looking to stay there in Nov or Dec and we don't have many choices for dates since it is already filling up.
We were told that many of the soap stars stay there during soap weekend and I know it is also for conventions so I'm sure that is part of the reason.
