I will be eligible for the Teacher discount at the S/D in time for our trip. We are booked for POR, but I am thinking about switching.

DH is already grumbling about how much we are spending for POR, I know he will grumble even more about the $129+ Resort fee at the S/D versus our under $100 rate at POR.

Is the cost difference justifiable, in your opinion?

If you decide on Swan/Dolphin, book today. I read in the paper that Starwood is upping their rates as of 5/1. Think I saw on these boards that the special Teacher/government rate would be going up to $149 tomorrow!

I stayed at POR 11/00. It was nice and we enjoyed it.

This year hope to be at Dolphin in November. Since we end up at Epcot at night often, believe it will be worth it. Plus, plan on enjoying the Boardwalk. Didn't do that on previous visits.

We stayed at POR twice and really loved it. We're staying at the Dolphin next week because of a great Entertainment Book rate. We are excited about the location of the Dolphin, as we've stayed at the Boardwalk Villas before and loved the proximity to Epcot and MGM. The Dolphin has the 2 parks and the Boardwalk for entertainment, you can walk or boat to Epcot/MGM. You need a bus for the parks from POR, but it was BEAUTIFUL themeing. Either way, you'll have a great time - I'd base the decision on which parks you plan to spend the most time in.

We absolutely loved DxL and were looking forward to POR, but when we got a special rate at Dolphin, we decided to try it and fell in love with the place. The location alone is worth the extra money. The pool is our fav. on grounds and the service is fantastic. If you're lucky enough to get a LV, they are the best views in Disney.

Now we make Dolphin part of every vacation to Disney. I would definitely go for the upgrade, you won't regret it.

We also came from Dixie Landings(POR - now) to go to the Swan and we were
disappointed. Other then the location of the Boardwalk we were not impressed with the
Swan. The food court was on the other side of the Dolphin and we were promised these
great rooms but were sadly disappointed that they it was not true Sooo... We
would definately go back to the POR gladly. For the extra money you pay fortheSwan/Dolphin
you can stay an extra night at POR or 2. Good Luck!

Disney Pal - I'll never get that POR/DxL thing straightened out. I thought POR is for Port Orleans. I'm so brain dead on this one.

Sorry you didn't enjoy Swan. The reasons you stated are the reasons we always pick the Dolphin. We like having the food court in the resort and the views have to be better then the Swan b/c it's so much higher. Plus, the Dolphin lobby is spectacular.

We have stayed at Dolphin & Swan. Swan is a litle smaller but lake view rooms are great!!!! We are going in December and January again and staying at Swan for both.
