Swan/Dolphin or Moderate Resort?

Hey there!

My DH and I are planning on a trip in March. We have two nights booked at Saratoga springs and were thinking about booking the rest of our stay at the Swan. (I am an SPG member for work travels and have status, plus we've never stayed at the Swan and I do love the Sheraton beds!) However, I just looked at the AP discounts and we could stay at a moderate resort for a little bit less than the Swan.

I keep going through the pros and cons but I haven't stayed in a moderate since I was a kid, and I have never stayed at the swan or dolphin.

Thoughts?

Be sure to account for the resort fee, parking fee, and airport transfers, if relevant, looking at the Swan. But the Swan allows you to walk to two parks, and no moderate allows that.

That's what keeps me going back and forth. We can always Uber to and from the airport and it isn't too expensive but it's still an expense. But you can't argue with the location and we do love a balcony. hmmmm

Given the choice, I would always pick the Swan over a mod. Better location, bigger more comfortable rooms and great food options!

Thanks disneywishes14! I'm leaning more and more towards the swan the more research I do. Glad to hear you would pick the swan as well.

Swan hands down for us as well!! You do have to figure in the extra fees and parking costs (or transportation costs) but if it is anywhere close to a moderate we would do this in a heartbeat. Love the access to studios and Epcot, sooooo many great restaurants in walking distance, inside corridors and balcony, room size and probably the 2nd best pool complex on property.

Be aware that you need to pay extra for a balcony at the Swan/Dolphin. Standard rooms have windows only. The good news is that it is a paid option, so guaranteed, not just a request, like it can be at some WDW resorts.

BTW, we LOVE the Swan/Dolphin resorts and most trips choose to stay at one of these for at least a part of the visit. You get much more bang for your buck here vs a moderate, IMO.

Also you mentioned with the swan you love sheratons....The swan is a Westin and the dolphin is the Sheraton. Just an FYI if that makes a difference to you. For me I prefer Westins.
