I have no senior...sigh....I do have some senior pics, tho
And I have two (yes-count 'em--two) grandsons who have been recommended for the advanced program at school! Yep--both of them!
You would have to understand the problems with Shawn in the past to really appreciate this. He has had several teachers who wanted him put on meds, saying he was ADHD (nope--didn't happen. I don't medicate my kids for the teachers' convenience). He
failed third grade and had to repeat. Getting him to do school work and/or homework has been a real chore over the years--screaming and yelling fits. He's been put on homework contracts so that I would know exactly what homework he had, because he would outright lie to me and say he had none...
Then, this year, this new Shawn shows up. He's on the safety patrol, in the band and the orchestra.
A few weeks ago, he told me he wanted to try out for the Quick Recall team at school. I encouraged him to try, if that's what he wanted, but, also tried to prepare him for possible failure. I honestly didn't think there was a prayer he would make it. But, he showed me! He tried out and he made the team!
Now this....
I don't know what to think.....
I am so proud of both of them for this, even if they don't make it into the program. Just to be recommended despite all they've been through (and continue to go through) is really something for them to be proud of.
And for me to be proud of...
