Swan/Dolphia Teacher Rate and Starwood Membership

What are the chances of being given an upgrade to club level if you reserve the teacher's rate at the Swan or Dolphin if you are a Starwood Preferred member? Thanks!

I don't know about getting a free upgrade to Club level, that probably won't happen. But, you can use some of your Starwood Points to buy an upgrade! We've done it!

In my experience, they have frowned on my asking for "free upgrades" when booking the teacher's rate. I have a SPG , but not enough points accumulated. My last trip at the Swan for example I had a $129 standard booked, when I asked about the possiblity of getting a balcony room upgrade I was told "No - they are all booked" (The receptionist seemed very bothered by my request)

When I got to the room, I actually called the hotel to try to book a balcony room I was told were all sold-out, and not to my surprise was told that that they WERE available. I wanted to go back down and tell the lady who checked me in off, but I figured I got what I paid for so I should be happy with that. The one time I booked a standard room with "AP rate" I received a comp upgrade no problem. So , I'd be curious to know if anyone has received an upgrade with "teacher's rate".

Hi all - I think comp upgrades have alot to do with the CM who checks you in and the mood that they are in. I know many people (including me!) have rec'd upgrades with the teacher & gov. rate. Some CMs are really sweet and accommodating and others are irritable and abrupt. I have met both types and I much prefer the cheerful CMs!!!!
