I read somewhere that if you're staying at the Swan or Dolphin for a convention, you get a different room. Is this true? If so, are they any different than the normal room (more amenities or less, that type of thing)? Or is it just a price difference? Any info would be great, thanks!

I am not sure what you mean? Do you mean that if you are there for a convention, you get different rooms than other resort guests, like special rooms just for conventioneers? If you do, no, they stay all over the hotel. This past summer there was a convention while I was at the Swan. I am a platinum spg member and all the jr and exec suites were taken by the conventioneers. I spoke with the room assigner and she told me that many of them are also platinum. So I guess that means they get their choice of rooms too, and rightly so! My trip was sort of last minute anyway.

The conventioneers may block off certain floors for their group, but I don't see how the rooms will be different. They are definitely given some sort of standard price. I don't imagine it would be any better than the govt. rate though. That may depend on how big the group is though.
