Hey!

I asked this question in another one of my threads, but I never really got an answer. Since it was an afterthought, I thought I would give it a shot on it's own. Is is possible to REQUEST an upgrade to Club Level just like you would request a specific view? If this is possible, I'd prolly use the E-mail system on their website. How would one word such a request? We don't necessarily want a room ON the club level, but simply would like the club level priveledges. Also, we are SPG members, but have no points. Is there even a chance of getting the aforementioned upgrade? Thanks!

Jeff

I received the CL upgrade without points (I'm a spg gold member and Plat Amex cc) this past August. I e mailed a request for a complimentary upgrade if possible right to the Dolphin. The answer came back that requests would be granted upon check in if upgrades were available. About a week before our trip, I was checking the spg web site - checking our reservation and there was the description of our room -CL room, etc. This was a surprise since before this our room description was standard room with limited view (booked the teacher rate rooms).

I believe that you can get an upgrade without points. However, it is dependent upon how booked the resort is. We went at a slower time of year (late August).

It's still worth a try. With or without the upgrade, the Swan?Dolphin are awesome resorts! :)

Hi Jeff -

My family will be staying at the Dolphin over MLK weekend (actually 1/16-1/20/03). I emailed the Dolphin through their web site and requested any possible upgrades. I am also SPG Gold with Amex Starwood Platinum.

This is the reply I received:

Dear Steve,

We are currently booked in both the Swan and Dolphin for the 19th and 20th of January. Gold members are eligible for complimentary upgrades to our balcony rooms at check-in, based on availability. The rate for a Club level room would be $409 and a Jr. Suite would be $680. Have a good day.

I'm still hopeful that the front desk will be able to upgrade at check-in. Good luck!

Steve
