Hi everyone!

We are getting married in Orlando in October. We are looking at our options and one of them is the Swan and Dolphin. I have my information into them for a quote/options but I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about their experience such as food options (light reception or full dinner), areas for the reception, costs, etc.

We are planning on approximately 40 people so the fireworks cruise is out (deep down that would be my first choice). We thought about doing the Epcot fireworks dessert party but apparently everyone needs to be staying on site and most of our guests prefer to rent villas.

Oh bother!!

I don't think everyone has to be staying on site to have an IllumiNations desert party. Not sure if you could get a spot at this late date but if you are interested in this I would definately give it a try. Where are you guys staying?

I'm doing my reception at Shula's at the Dolphin, but in December. You have to let me know if you enjoyed it, if you decided to use either hotel. I know I can tell you that I've had an awesome experience with the people at Shula's and they are nice and plesant and want to help. I've eaten at Shula's before, not in the Dolphin, but at another location and the food was amazing! Loved it. i already ahve my BEO and my whole night planned, so if you have any questions... just let me know!

Good luck!

I had a wedding in 2005 at the Swan. Our wedding price included minister, photographer, chairs for guests, flowers for bride/groom, cake, one bottle of champagne, 1 musician of your choice, room to get ready in. I think that covered it. You also get a wedding planner.
We added on an arch to get married under, more champagne that we bought ourselves and paid a corking fee, appetizer plates during reception (veggie tray and cheese tray).

The cake reception was in a banquet room in the Swan. Nothing fancy, just tables and the cake set up. We chose not to have a full reception there. There were 25 of us and we went to Ohana's to eat. (cake and champange and then DINNER! haha) The cake was AWSOME. We ate it all week in our room. They let me choose flavors and decoration. I also sent pics of my flowers and they were beautiful. I kept them in my room and they smelled wonderful all week.

I really can't say enough about how nice it was. The only bad thing was it rained and we had to be moved inside in a banquet room for the ceremony. Not too great but whatever! Nothing I could do but get married :)

These are all I have downloaded but you can see my flowers. Unfortunatley we didn't get beautiful outside photos becuase of the rain.

Hi lpizzuro123 and DecemberBride! Thanks for responding and offering to help!

lpizzuro123: I thought that as well but when I called Disney the person told me that they would require that the guests stay on site. She did say that if some of us stayed on site they might consider it but I don't want to take the chance that they won't allow it....So, I've given up on that idea and we will all go see them another night. We are planning to stay on site for our honeymoon and Emerald Island before that.

DecemberBride: Did you book Shula's via the Swan and Dolphin or did you call them directly? As well, do they offer a set menu or do guests order from their menu? Last question...Is it customary to have something planned for guests for after dinner? If we choose them, I will definitely let you know how it was!

Sorry so many questions...I have no clue what I am doing!!!

Disneychix...your wedding pictures are gorgeous...looks like the Swan would be a beautiful place for a wedding!

there is no requirement about people staying on-site for a dessert party. all you do is pay the $12 viewing fee...disney doesnt care where they are staying

Thanks PrincessBride010103......looks like I will have to call them again and see if I get a different answer....too weird.

I booked Shula's directly from them. I have the lady's number and e-mail. PM me if you want it. They offer menu's at a fixed price per person, but the guest can choose what they want to eat off that menu that you choose. They're are about 5 menus. I'm having my Escape cake from brought to Shula's so that's after dinner, but I'm not dancing or anything. We might casually say that we're going to watch fireworks at Epcot for who wants to join us. Let me know what info you want from me regarding names, numbers and menus and I'll get them to you. Just PM me...
