First, do either of these 2 resorts have AP discounts? Second- which one has the heavenly beds.... and why are they so heavenly ? AND Finally, third- which of these 2 resorts do you prefer?

Thanks!

I just returned from a wonderful week at the Swan. Do not know anything about AP discounts, but I can tell you that we absolutely loved the Swan. Everything was beautiful and everyone was unbelieveably courteous and friendly. It was truly the most 'magical' Disney vacation we've had. The heavenly beds live up to their names. Pillowtop mattresses, two or three white down comforters and the most comfortable pillows ever. It was like climbing into a huge white cloud at the end of a long day at the parks. Hope I was of some help.

Oh Erin!! That does sound heavenly after a long hard day at the parks!! How was the feel of the resort? Did you feel like you were still in Disney, or no? How are the rooms decorated and what kind of room did you stay in? And finally, how are the pools there?

Thanks so much for anseringmy qusetions! I really do appreciate it!

Swan does have AP discounts. I booked one thru Dreams Unlimited for this July 4th. It was a MUCH better rate then the AP rate for any of the other resorts in the area.

Just spent 8 nights at the Swan. We ran from dawn til midnight and at when midnight came we REALLY appreciated those heavenly beds! If you look between the double or triple sheeting you'll see for this weather there is a very thin down comforter thing that keeps you a wonderful temperature (in the winter they're thicker.) The pillowtop mattress I can't describe "soft" would be misleading because you have such support but you're totally without pressure anywhere and molds around you or something. I'm not describing this very well but just lets say when we finally decided after days and days we were going to sleep in with no wake up call one morning we were late for the CL!! It was after 10 and none of us has slept past 6:30 a.m. in years!!!!!!!!! Our rooms were powder blue and oak, with the bedding in vanilla. Look on www.wdwig.com under resorts, then swan, then new room pictures. The laundry room went down for repair while we were there so they arranged for guests to do their laundry at a neighboring resort and they gave us round trip transportation in a towncar with leather seats! Everyone was helpful, polite and kind. Our family has only stayed at the YC/BC and the Dolphin prior to this but for this girls only vacation we opted for the newly renovated rooms at the Swan. When we go back as a family it'll be Dolphin all the way because that's our family tradition for years on end but the Swan is glorious and if I were making family tradition from scratch today I'd go with either one. The pool is shared and in all my S/D loyalty I'd still give YC/BC's SAB an edge over the S/D Grotto pool, but just an edge, Grotto is so second place and spacious. I don't know about AP's but if you're a teacher, nurse or government employee the rate is GREAT. Hope this helps. And don't forget the oatmeal soap bars!

Oatmeal soap bars?? Sounds like I could eat those! Oops!!!!!!! please forgive me! I've been on Atkins for 2.5 months now.... any carb food item mentioned and I go nuts! SORRY!!

So, about these soap bars- what's so special about them??

Is one of the cushions on the bed that stuff that they use in the astronauts chairs in the shuttles? They sell beds made out of that stuff that molds around your body.. maybe that's what it is?

You guys are all talking me into staying there slowly but surely!!!
Thanks for your responses!

I stayed in a standard room because I booked on Priceline.com. But I am not complaining at all. I had a view of the Dolphin, but no balcony. If you are considering the Swan you should try Priceline. I put in a bid of $950.00 for round trip airfare for three and six nights in a deluxe. I never imagined that my bid would be accepted. I kind of thought it was a joke, until the screen came up that said Congratulations! I was expecting to spend that much on airfare alone. The pools looked wonderful although we never took part. I seriously think Priceline is the way to go. I just booked roundtrip airfare for my husband and I to Vancouver from Louisville for $306! FOR BOTH OF US!!! Can you believe it? Nothing beats our Disney vacation price though.

I am so excited to hear the good reports of the Swan. We are staying CL there for 12/28-1/02/04. We have been DVC members since 1994 and have only stayed at dvc resorts since, but just love the location and got great teachers rate for new year's week. We are headed to BCV in June and will check it out!

They smell wonderful, and they have very small flecks of oatmeal in the bar of soap. It's a great exfoliant! You are also given a glycerine 'facial' bar of soap, in addition to the famous oatmeal soap.
