Is it a possibly or likely that a change of planes would have travelers already seated on the second flight? If so, I am assuming that EB would have minimal benefits? I guess you would get what is open?

After reading many, many posts, I can't find the answer to this.

Are you asking if you are on a Southwest flight where you have a stop and change planes, is it possible that there will already be PAX on the second plane? Yes, if it originated elsewhere and yes, you have to chose from the seats which are open.

I agree with "lost"......

If you do not have a non-stop or direct flight (stop but do not change planes) I would think the Early Board would be even more important. There are already passengers seated onboard....in this case you REALLY don't want any chance of a later B or C boarding pass.

Early Bird....or "the bird" as we call it, ensures your boarding pass will be created BEFORE anyone who does not pay the extra $10. You will board ahead of ALL guests who choose to not take advantage of the bird.

DH and I fly Southwest often...and we always do "the bird". Eliminates stress...we have enough of that in our work environments already!

If it is you that has a connecting flight (a change of planes) then you will get two boarding passes one for each flight. The EBCI will give you an advantage on the first leg and you will be able to get both boarding passes with EBCI.

If you are flying on a flight that is a connecting flight for other passengers, the connecting passengers will also have two separate boarding passes but they will have had an advantage of being able to check in at T24 of their first leg for both flights. In this situation I see EBCI as being advantageous as you will get your BP before non EBCI connecting to your flight.

If you are boarding the second leg of a continuing flight (passengers continue on the same aircraft without deplaning) they will already be on board and will have the best selection of seats. I also see EBCI as an advantage here, not over the continuing passengers but over the non EBCI passengers on your flight.

If you are only uisng EBCI to get exit row or bulkhead type seats then you are right they will most likely be taken and it may not be worth if if you are all adults. However, if sitting with your party is important I would still get EBCI regardless of continuing passengers.
