I am a total newbie to swa. I just booked my flight from ORd to MCo $49 and then a return flight from MCO to MCI $99 for Jan 30 and feb 5
what are the odds my one flight may get cheaper?
I'd say the odds are fair to good. Watch those Ding fares every day!
If it does get cheaper will they refund the difference?
Depends on which fare you purchased. If you purchased Business or Business Select, then any overage would be refunded in the form of original payment. If you bought Wanna Get Away fares, the overage will be held as a credit you can use toward future travel and is good for one year.
what things should I be aware of using SWA?
You need to check in online 24 hours in advance. Try to make it 24 hours, not 23 hours. Southwest has open seating - no seat assignments and when you check in, each boarding pass with have a letter (A, B or C) and a number. These numbers indicate the order in which you board. A1-A15 are reserved for Business Select travelers, so if you didn't book that fare, the best you can get checking in early is A16. Medical pre-boards (people using wheelchairs or with other medical conditions that mean they need extra help or time boarding) board first. Then the A group boards, then B, then C. There are 137 seats.
If you do NOT get an A pass and you have children ages 4 and under, you will be allowed to board in between the A and B groups.
I just had a big snafu with my travel last week and on a completely full flight I got boarding pass B47 and my husband and son (age 6) got C26 and C27. A huge group of people family boarded between A and B, so I was probably around the 110th person on the plane - my DH and DS were the last ones on. I still managed to get us 2 seats together so I could sit with my son.
I am use to AA and ME and the easy luggage and check in etc..how will this work now with SWA as it is not a participating airline yet?
walk a swa newbie thru
You can still use ME and use luggage delivery to your resort. Flying Southwest does not change anything about getting to your resort. The only thing that is different is that on the way back, you'll have to take your luggage with you on the bus - Southwest is not a participating airline, which means you can't check your luggage in at the resort.
You are welcome! Happy travels!
