SWA question

We bought flights last year in October for a February trip.

Because the prices dropped we have a credit. I made the change to the trip in November to get the credit.

So, when does the credit expire? And, if it's October or November, do we have to travel then or can I book a new trip in February of 2010.

I'm so confused. Thanks for your help.

Hi, SWA credit expires one year from the date of purchase, not date of travel. So if you booked in October, then it will expire October this year.:)

Thanks for your help. I guess we are going to lose it then. That sucks.

HOW Large is your credit? you can get an extension of $50 per ticket(they deduct it from your credit) and that will extend into Feb for you.

The credit is only for $108. I sent an email to Southwest to see if I could apply it to something else like a hotel or maybe Disney passes. I doubt I'll be able to use it but I want to see first.

Thanks everyone for your help. That's good to know about the $50 extension if I had a big credit.

I called SW last week asking questions about my $456 credit. They are sooooooo nice and appreciative of our business. For now, my credit can only be used for SW airfare, not Westjet [nearly a partner] or cars or hotels. I booked Nov 08 for March 09 trip so I have to use the credit before Nov 09.

We are considering Sedona in July....I know IT IS HOT, but I'm into a relaxing HOT, by the pool, sunrise, sunset trip. The deals are great now, but we have to wait to see if dh gets a new job before booking anything.

I sent an email to Southwest

Totally off topic, but i had no idea that you could email SW? is that new? Did you get information about the extension through email or did you still have to call. Just wondered because i am in Canada and for the Customer service we were always given a non toll free # to call. would be great to find out if you can email for the extensions?

I got an email back from SWA yesterday and I can only use the credit for a flight so that means I will probably lose the credit.:sad2: Oh well. Nothing I can do.

Thanks for your help everyone - you were right. I was hoping you weren't but ...

As for emailing SWA, I think I just clicked on the "Contact Us" button and the option of emailing them was there. I sent them the email on Saturday and got a response yesterday.

If you are going to lose it anyway, you could always give it away to someone that can use it. In the past I have done that and have also been on the receiving end. Always feels good to do something nice for someone else.

I had the same question, because I looked recently for a way to email them and there was none. I have a hard time calling them during business hours as I am at work. Lo and behold, after the OP mentioned she emailed them, I checked and there was an email addy. I am going to email them today, hopefully.
