Has anyone ever had a problem with online checkin on SWA?

I'm booked on a flight tomorrow morning and tried to checkin this morning but got an "Oops! Sorry, your itinerary is ineligible for checkin online. Please proceed any Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter to checkin for your flight".

I even called and they had the same info I saw online. Anyone have experience why I wouldn't be able to checkin online? The person I'm travelling with had no problem checking in. I'm not a senior, child or infant. It was 24hrs before the flight and more than an hour. I have a ticketless reservation. It is not a military fare, group fare and I do not need a second seat.

This has really put a damper on my "day before vacation" mood. :sad2:

did you indicate u needed any extra assistance to get to gate?

you might be flagged for extra security screening. don't panic, it's no biggie long as your docs r in order & you arrive a bit earlier than usual.

have your friend with hopefully A boarding, to save you a seat & enjoy your trip:goodvibes

I fly frequently and when I had that happen to me I had been "flagged" for some reason. Who knows why, maybe my name sounds similar to an al qaeda member's! :rotfl2::lmao: It also meant that I was subject to "additional" screening at security too. I've now had it happen two or three times and it's really no big deal. In fact, when the security line was long, I actually got to skip it for my personal attention from the TSA ;):rolleyes1

It is part of the online process for every airline. A certain number of people are flagged to check in at the airport. It can be random most of the time and there isn't anything you can do about it.

Normally, it isn't a big deal, but with SW you are trying to get the best boarding number possible, while on the others you would already have your seat and simply need the BP.

Get to the airport early and enjoy from there...

Once you get flagged, are you more likely to get flagged again in the future? It seems like that's what's happened with me, kind of like getting picked for jury duty ;)

Well, it seems you are all right. I called SWA and after a being put on hold for a while they told me I was randomly picked by TSA. Aren't I lucky! :rolleyes1 My friend did get an A boarding so we should be set.

Our flight is at 6:40am and has many unsold seats so I'm not worried it just wasn't how I expected to start the day.

I wonder what will happen with my return flight. That one still shows many open seats but you never know.....

I fly 5 or 6 times per year and got flagged twice back in 2003 & 2004, but have been flying "flag free" since then.

I'm glad that you found out, and don't worry, it's really no big deal :thumbsup2 As far as flying back, I think that I was able to check in because I don't remember the extra screening on both legs of the flight, but I could be wrong.

Just remember.........tomorrow you'll be at WDW!!! I'd gladly take your place (pat down and all) if I could be at WDW!! ;)

Ahem.....wear your nice panties for the new "screeners":lmao::rotfl2:

Have a great trip......I'll take extra security to leave this godangit weather:headache:

The extra screening is simply having someone check in at the desk with photo ID to complete the check in process, nothing more. At least it was that way in my case.

Also, My family was flagged years ago, but nothing since. No clue who it was, but our itinerary was flagged to complete check in at the counter...

What a joke! On my departure flight they directed me to a kiosk at the desk and the agent didn't even ask for my id. Got an early B group pass though so not too bad.

Return flight could not online check in either. :headache: This time the agent checked my id. Still got a late A group pass.

Did not have any added security screening on either leg of my trip. :thumbsup2

I've had this happen my last couple of trips, 4 legs to be exact:confused: Nobody can tell my why it keeps happening. I read speculation on Flyertalk that it could be because my Government ID name that I enter on the ticket doesn't match my RR name exactly. It is super frustrating.

On a happy note if you do Earlybird check in your spot is held even though you can't officially check in.
