I am just wondering why there are no nonstops flights from SWA from Boston to MCO.

Also, why is it return flights are more expensive. (AKA Delta is more expensive for Orlando to Boston than from Boston to Orlando on Nov. 15)

TIA

I wondered the same thing, so I ended up Booking out of Manchester. There are some good deals out of TF green in Providence though. Since SW started service out of BOS I have not seen any nonstop to MCO, but the other 2 airports are flush with them.

I never fly SW out of Boston...way too expensive, and like you said, no non-stops. I always fly out of TFGreen...easy to get to, cheaper to park, and flights are non-stop and cheaper. Same thing with Manchester from what I understand.

We ended up booking a hotel room next to MHT and we're driving up Sat, our flight is Sun because they'll let us park the car there for free as part of the package. The room including parking is only $110.00. Last year we parked at the Thrifty lot outside of Logan and it was $120.00 and I had to drive there that morning. Now a shuttle will take us to the Airport, and we'll be well rested. We're gonna go up early Sat and spend the day relaxing at the hotel pool having a "down day" before our trip even starts.

MHT is a great airport to fly out of. Very easy and quick.

OP: SW just doesn't offer nonstops to MCO. I think BWI and Phillie right now and may have just added Midway as a nonstop.

They have other airports nearby with less competition, so they don't offer non-stops from Boston. Fees the airline has to pay are probably lower at those airports too. Their eastern hubs are PHL and BWI, so they funnel people through there. They discontinued non-stops from Detroit and Washington Dulles, probably not making money or they felt the planes could make more money elsewhere.

Southwest just started flying out of Logan last year. Originally, the only nonstop destinations were Baltimore (BWI) and Chicago (MDW). They recently - April or May 2010, I think - added Philadelphia (PHL) as a nonstop destination. Everything else requires at least one connection, or at least one stop.

Southwest has been established in Providence and Manchester for years. They're just getting their feet wet in Boston. There are probably a variety of reasons they're not offering nonstop flights to more destinations: not wanting to compete with their own flights within driving distance; waiting to see how the market looks; take-off/landing fees; other airport fees...

Hey kaytieeldr, I love the boston legal quote in your sig. I'm gonna have to start using that.

Please do - I acquired it from another DISer, and it's just about the the most sensible television dialogue I've ever read.
