SWA for December???

Any idea when SW might open booking for December? We are going the 2nd week. I have not flown with them before but I keep hearing about good prices and they fly DIRECT from the airport we use. I hate having to wait to make plans. Drives me crazy!

Hi,

In general, they have been opening up about 4-5 months in advance. Just yesterday they opened until the first week in August. So I'm afraid you have ways to go still.

I was afraid I would have a while. I was thinking maybe June. I will keep an eye out. Thanks Bob P. You are very helpful. If I am not mistaken you gave me some good info yesterday or day before on the Rest. board.

It's worth the wait. I fly it all the time and you really can't beat the prices.

We flew Southwest for for the first time this past Christmas for our WDW trip...it was great! The fares for our trip (12/18 - 12/25) came out about the second week of August...I'm pretty sure the dates for early December were out before that, I just can't remember how much earlier...sorry! We felt SWA offered great service...the flight attendants were really friendly...even on Christmas day when we flew home. Just remember if you fly with them to check in online 24 hours prior to your flight...and when at WDW, at the 24 hours prior to time...just ask the front desk to check in for you...you'll have to be present for them to do it, but it was easy enough and they were happy to help.

Last year I was able to buy our Dec/Jan tickets in late August, I got $99 going on Christmas day and $129 returning on Jan 5, we really like SWA, as previous poster mentioned make sure you get your boarding passes as soon as they are available also ask at the check in gates how full the flights are. We got on a flight in Las Vegas going to Tampa that was alrady 3/4 of the way full when it arrived. We made sure we got as close to the front of the line to board and had a plan as to who would sit with who if we needed to split up. Everything worked out fine but there was a little anxiety over the boarding process.

Not sure if this helps or not but last year when we were vacationing in Maine the 3rd. week of August they opened up for Christmas. Yup a friend called to let me know and thankfully the only library within 30 miles was 5 minutes up the road!

Thanks for all the great information. I will be waiting for our time period to open up and see what the have. I have heard they are great to fly on. We use Delta mostly, I like that you can pick your seats.
