SWA Credit Card Points Question

I was looking at possibly getting the SWA rewards CC to help with airfare. It says you get 50,000 points after spending $2000 in the first 3 months. We are needing to fly 10/30-11/7. We have 6 that need tickets. How many tickets can I get with 50,000 points? We would fly Raleigh to Orlando. The booking window for us is also set to open on Thursday. If I purchased tickets I guess I couldn't get the money refunded to use points after getting the points, could I?

Our $106 one way ticket costs just under 6k points. It comes out to 1.77 cents per point. The more expensive the ticket, the more points and less value the points. For our $115 return ticket, it comes out to 1.75 cents per point.

If you buy tickets now then cancel, you'll receive a credit that expires 1 year from date of purchase.

Just an FYI, the 50,000 points loads in the statement date after you reached $2,000 in spending. I had a few large purchases 2 days before my statement date close that was put on hold and went into the next statement date.

Maybe, but it'll depend on how much each leg of your flight ends up costing. I just plugged in some random October dates from Raleigh to Orlando and a $116 fare is 6,635 points and $125 is 7,221. Hopefully late October into early November will be lower. Best of luck with it!
