I'm hoping someone who has arrived at MCO on SWA can tell me the proximity of the Alamo Garage area (not terminal counter) to the SWA baggage carousel ?
thanks

Hi,

We flew with SW and used QS last Ocober.
To just do it without using any elevators, it might take 5 mins. or so, as actual walking distance isn't really all that far to the QS booth in the garage from SW's baggage claim carousel.

For us, however, with 2 kids and luggage in tow, it took us maybe 10 mins.

The "time eater" for us was waiting for the elevator down from the baggage claim level to level 1, and the one in the parking garage that takes you up to Alamo's (QS booth) area.

Hope this is what you were looking for, if not, I'll try again:)

I don't believe it is more than 100 yards There are at least two elevators/escalators along the route.

It seems to me the check-in counter was at the garage as well. Just follow the signs for Alamo and it will lead you to the garage.

Remember, MCO has 2 separate terminal buildings, which look like mirror images of each other. Alamo/National are in the garage of one terminal, other rental companies are in the garage of the other terminal, clear across the airport. I accidentally went to the wrong side once, and it's a chore to get back across, believe me. The problem is, both these terminals looked exactly alike to me, since it was dark at the time, and I had no bearing via sunlight, etc. Let's just say my sense of direction is lacking. ;) Also, the signs that point to "Car Rentals" may be pointing to the opposite garage than Alamo. This is what screwed me up in my case. Just verify with someone that you are indeed headed for Alamo's garage.

If you follow the signs for Alamo right away and go to the right garage, the above posters are correct. It's not more than a 5-10 minute trip from the baggage carousel.

I'm not actually so sure MCO is two separate mirror-image terminals. This http://www.orlandoairports.net:/goaa/images/diagrams/terminal_layout_l.jpg may be a tiny bit inaccurate, but I think it's one terminal with one side designate "A" (with remote gates 1 - 59) and the other side "B" (with remote gates 60 - 129).
And I could be wrong, but I thought with the exception of Magical Express, the two sides of the terminal have all the same services. So if there's an Alamo counter on side A, then there'd also be an Alamo counter on side B?

Yes, the terminals are "A" and "B". Maybe they're not mirror images, but to a pedestrian, they sure look alike.

There was definitely no Alamo counter on the other side. I can assure you of that, because I walked around for about 20 minutes looking for one, until I asked an airport employee, who informed me that Alamo was in the opposite terminal. My wife was about to kill me when she realized we'd been walking around the wrong terminal all that time, lugging our luggage and 2 kids in strollers. Other companies may "mirror" their offerings in both terminals, but Alamo did not. Maybe things have changed, but this was the case in August of 2004. My biggest problem was that I assumed that, even though there are two separate terminals, there was one large parking structure in one big place that served both. This was very wrong, as there are 2 separate, very large parking areas, and the garages for both look extremely similar.

Editing to add: just call Alamo and ask them which parking structure the Alamo counter/cars are kept at in MCO. Maybe they've added a counter at the opposite garage, who knows. But if you know for sure which terminal's garage it's in, that will ease all doubt as you spend all that time/energy walking to the terminal A or B parking garage from the baggage carousel.
