SWA $29 DING Fares Washington/Dulles - Orlando!!!

I know this DING isn't good for our trip but could you please answer a ? for me?

Must I download the DING software to get the cheapest rates or can I just go directly via the website?

Many thanks!

I'm hoping to fly SW for the first time in Sept, if they ever get their rates out!

Actually, my understanding is that you do have to have DING downloaded to get the airfare. To get a great fare like the $29 offered last night for one-way travel between IAD and MCO (going both ways) you must book online, but if you just go through the SWA website you won't see the DING fare. If you are aware of the DING fare but wind up calling SWA reservations to try to get it, they will tack on a service fee because you called rather than booking online. So, the bottom line is if you want to get the DING fare you need to download the program.

If I am mistaken about this, I'm sure someone will correct me.

You only get ding fares thru the ding program (last poster is correct)

go to southwest.com and click on download ding

When you download "ding" do they ask you to list specific routes you're interested in and then you only receive dings for those city pairs or do you list your home airport and it sends all dings for that airport? Thanks,

BobK/Orlando

you can pick the airports you want the dings for: I have mine set for Wash, Dulles, Reagan, BWI, Tampa, MCO, and Norfolk, VA

I tried to download but it gives me this error message:

Status : 403 Forbidden

Anybody else have trouble?

Nevermind. I got it. Just had to keep trying.

I got a slightly different but similar-enough error as yours when I was nearly done with the download process. There's a security firewall on my computer and that seems to be the problem. So no DING for me . . .

WOW!!!!!! I didn't know that I needed to download "Ding" to get that price!!! WOW thanks for the information. I wish I could d/l ding at work but I'm afraid they have it blocked and when I d/l at home I got an error message and gave up. Need a techie to help me. thanks

Hurry! Fares are valid Monday through Thursday, 4/16 - 07/30. Advertised fares are from $29 - $64.

This poster received a DING fare for travel up to July 30. Does anyone know why I do not receive DING fares to Orlando past May 30th? :confused3 (Yes, I have Orlando (MCO) listed as an airport of choice)

Hi POLYHEREWECOME
I just wanted to mention that some of the antivirus softwares can put a block on Ding, Norton for one as it does not recognize it.
BUT
all that needs to be done is to go to your antivirus software and "turn it off", temporarily. There is an option to turn it off ONLY UNTIL YOU RESTART your computer, you'll download DING while it is off (it takes VERY little time) your antivirus software will then "recognize" ding when you restart the computer and your antivirus of course will be on and running after the restart. You can check with your service provider who'll likely tell you the same thing.
This BLOCK can sometimes happen after you have had Ding for awhile if perhaps you download or make a change in software and all of a sudden Ding doesn't get recognized. There are actually several posts on the DIS about it.
As one who REALLY relys on Ding, I had "lost" Ding after a program update and after weeks was able to figure out what happened after speaking to both Southwest and my internet service provider who then explained to us what happened. It worked!! (I had previously kept getting the airplane wing with the exclamation point).
Well, just an FYI as I know how important those Ding fares can be!!
Good Luck!
