SW Wanna Get Away fare sold out?

Thank you for posting and I'm anxiously waiting for answers too. We're in the same situation, going on an extended family trip returning black Fri. I convinced my SIL to get the southwest card so she had the points but she was intimidated by the process and didn't book anything on Monday :scared1:. My family got the 9,000 point fares both ways, but now she doesn't have enough points to book at the crazy fares that are left. I remember tracking AirTran flights for TG in 2012 and they were cheap until early June, so I wasn't expecting this. At this point I'd be thrilled to see the 9,000 point fares again, just so I could get her booked! I am stalking SW site too, and will post here if I see any changes. Hopefully someone can answer the question about Wanna Get Away fares, especially for a holiday week. Are they gone for good and I'm checking every 1/2 hour for nothing or is there even a slim chance? The other issue is the number of flights. We have one nonstop and two connecting that week versus the 2 nonstop and 4 connecting they have for 4th of July week. Do they add flights ever based on demand or is this it?

:scared1: Lol, but that is the face I made when I read that your SIL didn't book Mon when she had the points! She must be cringing now! But, hopefully our stalking will pay off! I'm hopeful, and feeling pretty confident they will bring back more wanna get away fares with decent prices for the anniversary sale. someone here said they heard an ad for it to be Jun 10 - 12, so I guess we'll see onthat. But I'm still just checking obsessively, lol, just in case! I still need one return flight to book, waiting for my points to show up in acct after my closing date on Mon. So far that flight is still available and at the same price($142 / 8530 pts), so I'm hoping that'll hold thru till tues morning. I think I'm lucky to be flying out of Chicago Midway airport, there should be a decent amount of flights to choose from, I would think.

I had the same issue when I booked my flights for August. I looked at the price for Wanna Get Away fare and waited. I went back the next day, and it was listed as sold out for my flight. I kept checking back though since I was looking at different flights as well, but soon all direct flights from Philly to Orlando were showing as sold out for Wanna Get Away. A couple weeks later, Wanna Get Away fares came back for all the flights.

I think they have put a small amount of Wanna Get Away fares on sale right away and hope to get people to buy the other fares. If they don't sell, they'll release more Wanna Get Away tickets.

Yep, that's good to hear, and that's how I recall other years, in just remembering seeing sold out fares become available again. This is the first itme one of mine went to sold out so quick. I think last trip, one way sold out but became available again, but I was all set, just checking in case for any reduction in fares. Thing is, some people will buy some of those high priced tickets, worried they will be with nothing if they don't. There's probably even some who don't care about cost, just maybe the times are important.

I booked our Nov WDW flights on Tuesday and booked the Wanna Get Away fare for our return on Nov 15th. That fare is also now saying sold out (different airport than the OP). I was curious about what might be happening on that date too but I'm going to go with a pp's theory of them holding back the lower fares in hopes of people buying at the high fares.

I've never been more confused about flights. Now there is only one flight available on Dec 26th from BDL. I really want to just purchase my tickets and be done, but I just don't think I can swing it at these prices. I'm afraid that this last flight will sell out and they won't open any others for this day. Ugh! :sad2:

I've been stalking SW site for a few days now and was completely surprised to see all of the nonstop flights for wanna get away sold out for Dec 26th!! And only 2 other flights open for wanna get away with crazy expensive rates.

I caved and booked a late evening flight for Dec 25th. No one in the family wants to fly on Christmas day and at this point we don't have a hotel/resort reserved for that night. I'm banking on them opening up more flights on the 26th and crossing my fingers that they are not crazy expensive.

We flew out similar dates in 2013 with no issues???

We booked on Tuesday for November 29...we looked this morning and they're sold out too!!! Maybe because it's the Saturday after thanksgiving.

Ding Ding Ding :thumbsup2

Thanksgiving is the most traveled holiday in the United States, and also the most expensive time to travel!!!

Southwest doesn't add flights after schedules are released. Have you looked at other airlines?
