We gave up our seats to get voucher credits for a future flight.

I didn't realize two things when I volunteered:

1. It has an expiration date of only 12 months out.

2. It has our names on it.

Does that mean that only the names on the voucher can travel, or could I potentially book them with diff. names? I will prob use mine but my son doesn't need his and I would like to take a friend with me on a trip.

Thanks,

Dawn

SWA only credits people who had the tickets. So, if Sam has a credit, Bob cannot use it.

This is my understanding of the current methodology that SWA uses (I could be wrong since things do change, if somebody has different information feel free to chime in to correct me;)):

*Ticketless Travel Funds are only for the person named on the reservation (exception see "A" below)

*Vouchers may be 'gifted' to others to use within the expiry period as long as they have the original individual's name (as used on the reservation) & the pin and voucher numbers.

*AT Vouchers may not be utilized on SWA flights.

Caution: Last month I used the remainder of a kind friend's Voucher to book travel on SWA, which she had received for an equipment issue. My plans changed and I had to cancel the flight pending rebooking soon. I was very surprised to see the Voucher # had 'disappeared' from my account and the proceeds became part of the new TTFs. However, the entire TTF now had the expiry date of the Voucher (earlier). I knew it worked that way with various flight credits, but didn't think it included the vouchers. No biggie since we will be using the entire amount beforehand, but it effectively took 5 months off the TTF which might have been an issue if we weren't traveling within that time period.

"A" I have read anecdotal accounts of individuals letting TTFs expire. Then they call in & pay the fee to extend and find that the proceeds morph into a Voucher.:confused3Never in this position and no idea if SWA will continue this accommodation but it never hurts to ask if you might find yourself in this position imo.

Your LUV voucher given to you when you give up your seat can be used by anybody. I booked tickets this summer for my DH using my voucher.

The Travel Funds voucher - AKA one that you get because you flight price went down, can ONLY be used by the person whose name is on the original ticket.

One thing I will tell you, if the ticket you want to purchase is more than your voucher, I would suggest booking one way tickets. Here is what I mean. If your voucher is for $100 and your new flight price is $300. So that mean you will have to pay the $200 out of your pocket. But when you do this, the $200 will now take on the expiration of the $100 voucher. So if you have to cancel you will be stuck with using all of the money by the old expiration date. So its best to book one way tickets use the $100 for one of the tickets and pay for the other one way ticket. So now the ticket you had to pay out of your pocket will have its own expiration date based on the day you bought the one way ticket.

Thank you all.

I am still a bit confused, but I am starting to get it.

So, one of you said no, can't be transferred, two of you say yes, it can be transferred.

The vouchers are for almost $500 each, so I am not too worried about it not covering a flight. They did tell me that if the flight is for less, I can still use the remainder towards another flight.

It depends on what kind of voucher you received. If you received a LUV voucher, it can be used for anyone. I just used my last $37 on my luv voucher to book by sister in laws ticket to las vegas.

I also have another voucher for a flight that I booked, then cancelled (I cancelled it, not them), and only I can use that amount.

The luv voucher has a 16 digit code, then a 4 digit security number. The other voucher is just the 6 digit confirmation number of the cancelled flight.
