SW Ticketless Travel Funds

I have Ticketless Travel Funds that are going to expire before I can use them...What are my options? I know that I cannot use them for a new ticket and then cancel the new ticket and get a new expiration date. Help! I don't want to lose my money but I'm not planning on going anywhere before they do expire! Ideas?

you might be able to get them to "extend" the expiry date...do not know if that costs......they can extend "travel vouchers" at no cost ( we have done that in the past )

also know that RR tickets can be extended by paying a fee, since we have done that

We contacted SW's customer service when we had ticketless funds that were about to expire. They gave us a one time six month extension in the form of travel vouchers. We could either go to the airport and purchase tickets with the vouchers or we had the option of purchasing air travel over the internet, paying for it, traveling, and then when we got back we mailed them our travel vouchers and a copy of our travel stubs and confirmation number and they credited our credit card within a week or so for the amount of the vouchers. Very easy - great customer service.

FWIW - I contacted SW today regarding this very issue.

There are only 2 options you can either:

A) Have them mail you vouchers (4-6 weeks), and you bring the vouchers to a SW counter to purchase tickets. You will not be able to get discount internet/ding fares.

or

B) Go ahead and travel, pay for the tickets using the SAME credit card that was used when you bought the original tickets you have ticketless travel funds for. Once you have COMPLETED your travel, call the airline directly and they will credit your credit card. There are not vouchers traded/redeemed in this option...just a phone call to get the credit.

We are going to do B so we can utilize the internet specials and/or DING!

I was recently faced with this situation. I called and asked for an extension and was told they would send me travel vouchers, which had to be used within six months. I realized after I received the vouchers that they have to be redeemed at the airport within 24 hours of making a reservation - very inconvenient. I called the SW Customer Service # to ask about any alternatives to going to the airport and was told that once I've made a reservation using the vouchers, I should call the Customer Service # and tell them I've made a reservation using vouchers and would like to redeem the vouchers on the day we travel. The person I spoke to said that SW realizes that it can be very inconvenient for people to make an extra trip to the airport to redeem the vouchers. I was told that they will flag the reservation so you can present the vouchers at the counter on the day of travel to pay for the tickets.

I haven't done it yet, but the fellow I spoke to seemed confident about his advice.
