I have $145 in ticketless travel funds through southwest. The funds are associated with my confirmation # for my flight this Saturday. If I sell these funds before Saturday by giving someone my confirmation # and credit card holders name, that person could actually cancel or change my flight, right? I'd like the extra money before the trip but it's not worth it if I could lose all of my funds for my current flight. Is there any way around this? Or should I just wait until I get back and sell them? TIA!

First and foremost, I'm no expert. I'm sure there's lots of ways people can do things that I'd never figure out, but here's what I believe about SWA ticketless travel. Travel funds are associated with a cancelled reservation. You have these travel credits because you cancelled one flight and booked another at a lesser rate. The new flight will have a new confirmation number. With only the purchaser name and confirmation number, I believe the ticketless travel funds holder will only get access to a cancelled reservation if they tried. Other than that, they can use the funds as credit towards travel. Again, this is my understanding, and I too would love to know if there's more to it. :3dglasses

That's not necessarily true. Your ticketless travel funds could be linked to your current confirmation number if you did not change flights, merely got a lower fare.

You have one year from when you made your reservation to use your funds. Personally, I think "selling" them is too risky unless it's a trusted friend or family member.

Yes I do have the same confirmation #. Irebooked the same flight for a lower rate. Thanks, I guess I'll just wait untill I get back to sell them.

It depends upon how you cancel and re-book your flights. If you completey cancel a flight and then re-book another then yes, you will have a new confirmation #. But if you bring up your flight with the conf # and then change it (due to a lower price, changing flight # or whatever) you will retain the original conf #.

Oh, sorry ~ guess we posted at the same time!!
