I just got a SW email about their systemwide sale. How do I rebook to get the lower rate? I already have 2 tickets for my Sept trip Hou to MCO for $99.00 each for two that I rebooked for a Ding a few weeks ago. I have another 2 tickets from MCO to HOU for $119.00 each. How do I rebook? I hope this makes sense!

Thanks!

a while back someone wrote about how they did it, and I just finished rebooking my flights to WDW at the end of aug. on SW-
if you go to SW home page, under "travel center" you will see a link for "cancel existing reservation" -complete all of it until you have to hit the cancel button-THEN, open a new window, make the new reservation with the new prices up to the point where you have to hit the reserve button- at that point, go back to the cancel screen and finish the transaction, then immediately go to the new booking and then, to get the credit from the cancelled flight, put in the confirmation number of the flight you just cancelled in that area of the new reservation and voila- it will credit you the $ from the first reservation-
as the other person explained, this way you dont' have to worry about cancelling the first one just to then find out that SW doesn't have the flights you want-

althoough, theoretically i guess that in those seconds between transactions, the flight availablity status could still change, but at least this way, you reduce the chances of it happening-

happy savings!

Thanks I just rebooked and got a $60 credit! :cool1: Now can I call and get the $ credited back to my card since it is not a Ding fare? I asked that question a few weeks ago and I was wondering if I could? :confused3 I think I can.

I just did the exact same thing, and rebooked at the cheaper rate. It says I have a ticketless travel credit of $147 now. So, let me know if you are able to get that credited back, otherwise I guess I'll use it towards a future flight.

You can usually get it credited back to your card IF you did not make any changes at all to your itinerary and just rebooked for the lower fare. Youo have to call the Customer Service number, not the 800 number and ask to speak to a refund agent.

Good Luck...

Thanks so much for this information. I just got a $40 credit. Of course my husband had a fit - he said it wasn't worth the risk. I'm glad it worked out great. I told him he could use the money at the airport bar. :rotfl:

Too funny! I just got off the phone with SW. In June I booked our flight for our 09/16 WDW visit (first time for my family of 4). At that time I paid $782.40; got the SW email today and noticed the flight was at $542.40. I went through the online process of changing flights, then called 1-214-792-4223 and asked for my cc to be credited. The SW rep was excellent and assured me that I will receive the credit!

Hope this helps.

I just called SW and they said no since they are nonrefundable tickets. Oh well... Just thought I'd give it a shot.

That's strange that you were unable to get credit. Perhaps it really depends on who you get when you call. I will just have to check with CC company to see if I get a credit.

You only have to do all of that if you find a lower DING fare. Otherwise, just click on TRAVEL CENTER, then click on Change Air Reservation, enter your confirmation # and bring up your old ressie. You don't finalize any changes until you know for sure that you can get the new or same times/dates you want. You can change your mind up until the final click that confirms the change. :goodvibes
I'm so happy, I just got another $120 credit for our Sept trip! That's in addition to the $280 credit from before. This will be a huge help for our Disney cruise in Feb.!! Woo hoo, I love SWA!!

Tink, I'd try again to see if you get a different agent. the one I spoke to told me t was SWA's policy to give a refund to the credit card if there were no changes to the itinerary and the credit was due to fare reductions.

Yeah, try again. We did the exact same thing as you, cancelled and rebooked, ending up with a credit to be used within the next year. My wife called, and the agent told her we qualified for the refund since we did not change flights, just lowered the rate. So she was crediting back to our card. I believe that she also said you could just call them, and they'd refund the difference on the flight, without having to go through all of the cancelling and rebooking online. Good to know.
