SW San Diego question.

OK. I was about to do a really stupid thing. Wing it and just go to SW San Diego in April without making any plans or doing any research. The DH has a conference and we are tagging along.

Then I was posting about a family that did the same thing before going to WDW and realized I was making the same mistake.

So....

Any good guidebooks?
Websites that might be helpful? I'm sure nothing will be even 1/8th as good as the disboards but maybe a forum on another board would work.
Anyone else been there?

Where should I start?

We've been there twice and I must say we just winged it both times without a problem. Just get a show schedule as soon as you enter and plan your day around the shows.

If you really want to plan the above link will give you park hours and the show schedule. I don't believe that the actual schedule is available until about 45 days out. Check out their website, because there are animal interaction options you can add.

Too funny - I just posted virtually the same question. I'm glad to hear that touring plans aren't as necessary as at WDW, but I'd still love to hear from someone what the best plan of attack for SW is, given that we're only there for 1 day, and probably not all day at that.

If you go during the off-season the hours are shorter, but if you "commando" through, you can get most if not everything done. Of course, some things are closed or off for the season.

If you go during peak times, it will be incredibly busy, but there will be much longer hours and an opportunity to see everything you want. I would go on the website and make a priority list of shows,exhibits, and attractions you want to visit. I have a pass, so if you have any more specific questions, just PM me.

Sea World can be done without a touring plan. Definitely. I agree, just check the shows you want to see. Have fun. Yay San Diego!

I haven't been to SW in 10 years.. has it changed much? We are thinking of taking dd the day before we board our cruise.
