SW refund

Am I correct that if I have booked a SW flight on points and need to cancel, that those points go back into my RR account. AND, I don't have to use them within 6 months (or 1 year)? I want to cancel a September trip, but don't know when I'll be able to book another trip. I don't want to lose the points.Thanks.

Yes your correct...I've canceled a trip booked on points and they just go back into your rr account
