If I book a ticket through SW now (for August), what happens if I find a better Ding rate? Can I change the ticket to the Ding fare (and get a credit for the difference in price)? Thanks!
As I understand it, if you can get a better Ding price, you can cancel your original tickets and use them as a credit for a future flight. It also seems like some people book each person in their party separately, and they sometimes will book 2 one way flight instead of a round trip. Hopefully someone can better explain the merits of doing these things than I can.
Yes, you can cancel and rebook at the lower price. But If you have booked a round trip flight and you only change one flight, the price of the second flight might go up to what ever price the flight is when you rebook. *I ran into that last August. Wanted to rebook only one leg of the trip(to avoid a flight with a stop to a non-stop)Long story short I couldn't do it.
So I learned for our trip this August. Leaving on Monday the 21st, returning 9 days later on a Wednesday the 30th. I am pretty confident that I will be able to get a ding fare for the way home(Wed). So when I booked, I booked our flight down seperately from our flight home. This way if I have to change one leg, it woun't affect the price of the other.
Hope that helps you!
If I understood correctly from other threads, you can cancel the current reservation and use the credit to purchase the DING fare. I think you have to time the cancellation and new purchase to make it work. Is this right, or have I totally misunderstood?
