I have never flown SW much and have two questions.

1) IF the prices drop on flights that I have already purchased what is the process for getting the credit? Do you have to re-book then cancel the previous tickets or do you need to cancel the tickets and then re-book or can you just call and get the credit?

2) If you manage to get a credit how long are they generally good for?

Thanks in advance.

Very easy - you go to the website where it says "change/cancel reservation" and choose the flight (the same flight at the new price, in this case) and it re-books the fare at the new price, assigning the difference as a credit attached to the flight's confirmation number.

2) If you manage to get a credit how long are they generally good for?

It's good for one year from the date of the original airfare was booked.
