SW Question

Okay, SW is only offering a non-stop morning flight on the day we leave out of Dulles (ugh) for $79. While that is about an extra hour drive for us it would be worth it for the savings and we could fly back into BWI. My question is if Southwest decides to offer better rates out of BWI later on the dates we're leaving can we transfer to a different flight with no penalty?

Yes. Unless your original tickets were fully refundable, you will get any savings as Ticketless Travel Funds (credit) to be used for future flights and good for one year. That's the great thing about SWA...........no penalties for changes or cancellations!
