SW- pay for early boarding?

thanks for all the replies- sorry I started yet another thread on the same subject....:upsidedow
As a pp said above I think I'll get it for our return flight- since LAX is a big airport, and our flight is around noon- and I think it'll be one less worry in an unfamiliar place! Thanks!

wait...one more question- I have a connecting flight- if I get EBC at the beginning,do I need to get it for the connector too? or does it take 2 purchases?

For my own peace of mind, I'm going to get the Early Bird Check in! Thanks, guys.

You're good to go. SW will do your bp for the second leg of your flight as well.

I'm looking for advice, and this seems a good spot!

Our family of 3 is heading to Salt Lake City from Pittsburgh in May. On the way back to Pittsburgh, we will have a 45-minute layover in Midway airport in Chicago. I'm stressing over that.

Would it be worth getting Early Bird Check-In so that we can be assured of getting seats as close to the front as possible? That way we can de-plane as quickly as possible to get our connection.

Now I've started on a flying peeve: people who have arrived at their final destination, could you please linger in your seats, if possible, to allow those with a tight connection to make get off first??

I have never seen people hold back. When it's time to deplane, everyone jumps up. Maybe in a perfect world...

There are 130 passengers on the plane. How am I to know which ones are trying to make a tight connection?

And maybe they shouldn't have chosen such a tight connection? The only time I've heard a request to allow those with connecting flights to get off first is when our plane was delayed, which I can understand. Otherwise, if you don't think you can make a connection, you should probably choose a longer one.

I have been on flights that have had to leave late due to weather or mechanical issues. This then made some passengers have really tight connections upon landing. The FAs have always announced that there are several passengers that have to get off the plane first due to the late departure and getting on another flight. They knew who the passengers were, so practically escorted them off the plane. The vast majority of other passengers were patient with that and had no issues.

Now...if you deliberately book a flight with a tight connection, then that's your problem to solve. But, if you have booked a flight that offers you plenty of time but the airline causes you to have a too tight connection, then the airline should make it easier for you.
