SW or AA?

I can't decide if I want to use Southwest or American. We leave on July 7. Each airline flies out of a different airport, but we are halfway between the two (DFW and Austin). Right now, AA has a better rate, but I haven't seen any Dings for July yet. Thanks in advance for all the opinions.

For me, if AA has the better fare, or even if they didn't, I'd still go with AA. AA has interline agreements with other airlines, that provide you much better protection in case of a difficult situation.

I'm also a big fan of AA, plus you can choose your seat. I've never had a problem with them (though I do miss Song Airlines!).

Good luck!

Me personally, I'd take Southwest over American. If a company treats me right, I stick with them. Southwest has consistantly taken care of me. If you ever need to change the flight, its never a problem. They even give you a credit when the new flight is cheaper, and allow you to rebook to save money. When you call thier number, you get a live human being right away. No menus, and hardly ever a hold. (Although thier hold music is a riot)

As for seats... personally, I prefer open seating. I get to choose the seat I want, and the people I sit next to/in front of. (so that I can avoid the kicking baby) When my family flew American and United with the assigned seating, we always got split up. Schedules changed, equipment changed, and before you knew it, I was stuck in the last row of a MD-80 next to the engine, my mother was 3 rows ahead of me, and my father somehow got upgraded to first. Lucky him.

Both good. SWA is better to Disney, however. And you wanna fly via Austin (my home town) because DFW is an absolute nightmare. And I luv the 737. Do you live in Waco?

Yes, we are in Waco. Please expound on you comment about SWA being better to Disney. Please feel free to PM me if you want. I agree DFW is horrible, but it is do-able.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I am still looking for more info and input and am impatiently waiting for rates to go down.
