SW making changes to EBCI?

I have noticed that if I purchase my ticket with points and buy the EBCI I seem to get the B boarding group. I just wish that there was a way that Southwest would honor all the flyers that spent the extra money for early boarding to be able to board BEFORE family boarding. Family boarding group doesn't have to pay anything extra and they are allowed to board before me, which also wouldn't bother me so much if it was just parents with small children, not the entire extended family.

We have only flown Southwest and almost always add EBCI. On our last flight out of MCO we booked day after fares opened up and ended up with EBCI B2 and B3. Ok I could deal with that but then there were 43, yes 43 people in the family group who boarded before us. That is probably the last time I will ever pay EBCI out of MCO.

Yes well I had B60 in December 2021 coming back from Vegas no EBCI, A40 with my husband's A-list helping us out in May 2022. Count yourself lucky if not purchasing EBCI never netted you higher than B20s.

SW had a promotion for earning a limited time Companion Pass which could be used starting August 15. The person who is the Companion gets checked in immediately after the paying customer, except for Business Select. So anyone ahead of you with an Anytime fare, WGA+ or a SW A list passenger who has a Companion with them is basically getting 2 places before you. This was a new change last year. A lot of people take advantage of these CP or A list promos. This could definitely be impacting how far back you were this trip.

Also, the higher priced fares will all get checked in before any WGA fare does. It doesn’t matter when you bought your EBCI. Anyone with those fares will be checked in before you even if they only booked EBCI 2 days ago.
