Has anyone heard about the increase in Southwest fares beginning next week due to the gas price increase?

Has anyone heard about the increase in Southwest fares beginning next week due to the gas price increase?

it was on the news tonight...most airlines are involved ( it said southwest was following suit )

but also in the USA today....

and this one

a statement from the above article :

All the major airlines that raised fares last week have partially rolled back the increases after low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines (LUV) failed to match, said Neil Bainton, chief operating officer at FareCompare.com

and then there is this article....

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2007-07-09-southwest-fare-hike_N.htm

at the end of this article..from early july

Fast-growing Southwest on June 27 said it would scale back its growth rate for the fourth quarter and for all of 2008 to curb costs. It now plans to increase flying capacity 6% on a year-over-year basis, down from a previously planned 8%. It also has been very public about its need to increase revenue to offset high fuel costs.

CEO Gary Kelly strongly hinted at a meeting with Wall Street analysts that a major change in the carrier's simple fare structure will be rolled out at year's end when a new computer system makes its debut. That computer upgrade also will allow Southwest for the first time to sell international tickets.

who knows what the real truth is..??

it was a good ride while it lasted...

So much for hoping for a decrease. Right now my rates are $170 way. I paid $165, I was hoping for a drop so I could get credit. So far, nothing, but it only has been a week.

I guess my deal is looking sweeter and sweeter as each day passes. I purchased tickets for $104 round trip. :goodvibes

I don't know about next week, but the flights that I booked all went up $5 across the board last week!
