I booked R/T flights and the outgoing flight has gone down, when I called to see if I could get points back that I booked the trip with I was told my R/T fare was lower then what it is now so they couldn't. The trip home the fare is up quite a bit. Would I have to rebook my flight down? It's 390 points less for the way down for the 3 of us. I'm not totally sure how this works.

Thanks, Linda

You can "change" your flight online, and it can refund points for each segment.

Linda, do you need more info? As Supersnoop said, if you click on "Change Flight" on their homepage it will take you through it very easily. Don't forget to log into your RR account.

Thanks that's great to know!! I ended up getting an email from SW saying all my points were put back in my acct which scared me since she told me she made no changes and I thought my flights would get cancelled or I would be charged at the higher return flight. After a 30 minute call they were able to straighten it out and give me the outgoing flight at the lower fare and reimburse the RR points! I was told to watch every Tuesday before we leave to see if it goes down. I'm hoping the earlier flight home goes down so I can change it but if I do I will do online this time.

Thanks, Linda :)

You should actually check a bit more often than every Tuesday. Our flights to Ft. Lauderdale have gone down 4 times since we booked them, for a total of 4,000 RR each. The last two fare decreases have been on a Sunday.

In my experience, once a Southwest customer service rep makes a change to your reservation, you can no longer do anything to that reservation yourself online. You will probably have to call them to make the change for you if the cost of your flight drops again.
